I am looking for the name of that sprite that is used when an alien is spawned in HALF-LIFE. I guess it could be described as a ball of energy that has bolts of lightning shooting from it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's an effect that happens when aliens spawn. I cannot seem to find it in my directories. - HeAdCrAb KILLA

Thats the name of the muzzleflash sprite- fexplo1! ;) Now all you need to do is to change it's colr to green!(with the RGB color value) :D

nope.. I think this is only available in 'the spirit of half-life' but theres an entity called env_warpball, you use this entity, along with a monstermaker, and multi-manager.

Erm. You could just combine three simple entities -
env_sprite
ambient_generic
monstermaker
-
and make something exactly like the warpball for Spirit.
You could add some beams for effect too.

There you have it, you can see the selected Warpball, (red square)
the Monster_maker (bigger square), and then below that theres a env_shockwave, that I added for a cool effect.

I know he is talking about Spirit of Half-Life(the program)! :lol: And I decompeiled the bsp file of the exident and it was like how I said! A green fexplo1 sprite and green Env_Beams!!! ;)

The sprite I am looking for is used in almost all of the HALF-LIFE games. It appears with a sound (which I also can't find) when an alien is spawned and features a bright green glow with bolts of green lightning. I dunno how Spirit even works so I'm lost. - HeAdCrAb KILLA

Spirit is just a dll.. its the exact same as the half-life dll, just with extra options.
Download Here:
http://spirit.valve-erc.com/files/Spirit12.exe

Very simple to use.. just copy the dll out of the folder into your mods folder, copy the fgd file into your hammer directory, set up hammer to point to that fgd file instead of the half-life.fgd.
And thats it! Now you have lots of new options, that are just added.. so nothing will seem unfamiliar! ;)

In case someone is interested, i made an "alien teleportation" prefab some time ago, identical to those alien teleportation in the original HL singleplayer story, with green flash, some green beams, 2 sounds, etc. I'll tell ya, its identical!

And best of all: my prefab gives you exactly the same effect as in Spirit.
