for some reason even though i have got the half-life shell images in my mod directory i don't have any buttons when i open the mod but i do have the picture i made.

Do you mean custom buttons? In that case you might have forgotten the bnts_main.bmp

Don't forget, the buttons are rendered additive, so no black buttons, or else they will become transparent :o
