After I recently rebooted my computer Hl1 has many problems. I can no longer use direct3D(I couldn't use openGL even before) so I have to use software. If I try to use direct3D it gets stuck in the loading screen. (the game starts but all I see is the loading screen) Also the flashlight usally doesn't work and when it works I can't turn it off.

Download new drivers to your gfx card.

You should have named the Thread something else lots of people are gonna complain.

Anyway:

-Are you sure the flashlight doesn't work? Maybe it just takes a long time to turn off.

You might try downloading the latest non-steam update and try that if you haven't already, or just tak the plunge and go steam.

It took me a very long time to to from won to steam, but I eventually did it. I still don't like steam--And I'm pretty sure you don't either--, but I tolerate it because everyone else uses it.

4thgen: No I'm sure it doesn't turn on. I don't know whats my graphic card, all I know it's quite new and Direct3D worked before. Before I rebooted, I had a virus called SpyAxe which made me reboot my computer, apart from that I can't remember anything bad that heppend.

As for a name...well, I couldn't think of one so I just copeid this name from another thread.

maybe its just becos I'm tired but... how can you reformat your drive then reboot and try to play HL1!?!?!

He means reinstalled Windows, not rebooted.

Find out what graphics card you have and install the appropriate drivers.

Yea, i have the problem with the flashlight, just go up to a wall and turn it off, works for me.

And i get problems with my direct3D, when i go into playing a map and i want to go back to the menu, the menu won't come up for some reason.

Thankyou seventh...... Don't necesarily get the newest drivers, get the one that worked last time. If you can't remember it, then start 4 drivers back and test from that version onwards..

Heh, Thats what Someone told me to do when steam screwed up my textures on hl, i dled the drivers, found out my video card was 7yrs old and i had the newest drivers in already, still got the video card in this computer now
