Is there any website that you can find information, see pictures, download (legally), watch movies on what the HL2 before the guy stole it was like? I mean, I know they didn't have to do the whole thing over again, and that they caught the guy, but don't you think with all the stuff around and about the internet there would be some information about it? I have HL2 and would just like to see how much it has changed from that game to the one we all play now.

There are plenty of beta screenshots before the leak, just google it. There is also Half Life 2: Raising the Bar if you are willing to spend $40.

Well, I have seen beta screen shots on google, but I hope HL2 wasn't going to be released like that, it looked horrible, just wondering how much it changed since it was stolen.

Try the bink videos that were released in 2003-2004. They were all beta stuff.

@m_garg: I can't find it anywhere recently, and I'm not about to host up a gb's worth of beta files.

When you say beta, do you mean the preview that steam released, which let you play throught the prolouge, and ravenholm, or the one that the guy stole, Cause I know in the preview, you could use cheats to see some secret weapons that were taken out of the game, or at least I read that somewhere.

There was a site with a list of weapons and aliens that got "cut" from the game.

You had the stunstick as a weapon (its still in the "icons" hl2 font),
there was the bullsquid, and a load of other stuff.

Can't find it now.. Rats.

The preview was the demo IIRC ;x

By beta I mean the leaked beta that was widely spread across the interweb.

If you look at the HUD icons for HL2 in Hammer or a texture viewer the cut weapons' art is still there.

i think now HL2 is out they should give that to all owners of HL2.

It was stolen, right?

It wasn't stolen in a sense that they never got it back, they found the guy, it just put them on delay. Didn't anyone ever see G4, they have a show called "ICONS" and one of their shows was about Valve.

Random fact, they have an actual Valve comming up out of their floor.

There were the videos at planet halflife but I don't know if there were the beta videos you are looking for (At least I think they are beta) But im sure they were released before the game.
