Hello, I made a truck in which I'm using a high resolution skin for.. I found images of the same truck online, took the pictures, and made them all into one skin.. side, top, front, and back views.. However, now the texture size is 1800x1400. So, I know I'm going to have to remap it, and make the texture smaller, but I don't want to loose the detail for the model. Whats the largest sized skin HL1 models can have?

I'm hoping its maybe 1024x1024, not 512x512 :

512x512 works, but im not so sure about higher resolutions.

Yea, thats my usual texture size. : If I make an image scale down from 1800x1400 to 512x464, imagine the quality I'll loose, it'll look like crap!

try it. if it doesn't work, take the image and make 4 sections (quadrants) of it. apply that to it respectively.

Does that method work with models?
I know it doesn't work too well with textures since the edges of each quadrant are blurred. You can clearly see where the divisions are...

I'm hoping for a plugin for another program like blender, 3DS Max.. or other.. that will allow it to be compiled into a Half-Life model. :

Well, I resized the textures.. there no longer as clear, but I thought it would be alot worse. So, I compiled it, and opened it in Jeds.. but I was surprised what I saw:

But you see the wheels in Milkshape are fine:

Nice model! :D I don't see what could be the problem... Compiling error maybe?

Very nice texturing! Texturing is so annoying in modeling! Very nice!

Sorry I dont know the problem though :(

What is the texture size of that wheel texture?

255x255 You think that might effect it? I'll change it to 256

Yep, thats the problem. 255 can't be diveded by 2, 256 can. :)
