Im making this thread for people to suggest some maps here at TWHL to go into rotation for Muzz's HLDM server. Its been "OK'd" so Im going to suggest some for the server:

After a bunch have been agreed upon it should be voted on for the ones that go into the server

Apex_V2

Warpcore

sol_arena

DM_control

Poison Garden!!!

Please suggest some more!

Killbox...Heh only joking but seriously I think that the server should have only a few maps...Not too many because downloading them can get tiresome...

Why not just ask in the official thread anyway...

Yeah, RPG-Arena has a nice gameplay but the framerate is crap.

I nominate Spanish Lyceum (Lower floor). Warpcore has a very cramped layout IMO.

I'm against Poison Garden, with all respect for Rimrook, that map plays like shit. Some of the areas are just to small. But i've said this all before..

I got a wicked idea.. There will be a certain area that you'll press a button, and then the bot charges and sends out a wave of radiation, and kills all the people who are not out of harms way..
It's fairly small, and mainly an open map... I've never made a deathmatch map, so I would'nt know.. but I take it, it is the same as mapping for original HL. :

and of course, there would be brighter lighting.

Unbreakable: That looks like a futuristic military hanger. Maybe you could make it a airforce base with mechs as support. Pressing a button outside would open the hangar doors and the mech would walk along a trac_train. Make him deal damage on impact. :)

I would suggest some of my HLDM maps, but they look like crap(or are buggy). I'm working on a new DM map, hope you'll host it when I'm finished.
I have no map suggestions at this time. Everyone already said the ones I had in mind.

yea Xyos, but I think it would start to lag if it was too large.. but a futuristic hanger is what I was going for... but I wanted it to be a rather small close range deathmatch type of map.. now, how would I go about making this? Do I just add ammo, weapons, and a bunch of info_player_deathmatch?

I'll gladly set up AMX 0.9.9 for you and email you all the neccessary files. Is your server dedicated or rented?
Perhaps later I will ask some questions about it. I gave up on dedicated servers after trying to get my router to accept the change.
They can be tricky sometimes but if you learn how to host a proper dedicated server its a lot more beneficial(mostly because its free).

1400 wpolies too much? Not these days :| . if you are still stuck in the stone age(like I was at one time) and have a crappy computer that lags out at 1000 wploy then forget r_speeds. Adjust your gl_max_size and get massive fps boosts:
Go to your config.cfg and type gl_max_size <value goes here>. For those who don't know, gl_max_size sets the maximum texture size that the game will draw. If a texture is larger than that then the game will resize it. The best sizes to choose are factors of 2(2,4,8,16,32,etc...). The default is 256 but if you have a crappy computer I'd suggest either 128 or even 64(only if its REALLY old). For those of you with newer computers I'd suggest 512 or even 1024(like me, the man).
Gl_max_size must be set before you enter a game and cannot be changed after you enter(even if you disconnect) which is why its smartest to put it in your config.cfg.

Its rented. For some stupid reason, an FTP based installation of AMX mod doesn't work. Don't know why. :/

Weird. A friend of mine owns a rented server and I co-own it with him. He uses AMXX and it works perfectly.

But Deathmatch Classic uses different entities. If you put any of those in your map, and you try to run it in regular DM, those entities may not appear ingame.

Making a HLDM map uses the same fgd file as a normal HL sinlgeplayer map. So if you are using that one, you are ok.

If it was source, you could get the legs to move with a rotating, or a trac_train, then set the whole mech to a trac_train, making the legs children of the whole Parent of the mech as it moves along its own trac_train. I forget what the inferior parent/child set up is in 1.6 :(

Won still is around? I didnt know HL could run anymore on WON....

yea, won is no longer around.. lol.. (my mistake) Worldcraft.. it's just a Photoshop effect to brighten up the screenshot.. lol

So far what I got plan is that.. theres a button you press that will cause the bot to have a power overload, and anyone in the hangar at that time will die.. so you have to run for cover once the buttons pressed.. then the bot will recharge.
Recharge time should be what though? 120secs? (2mins) or more?

If its only in the hangar, then just have like a 5 or 10 second warning alarm. After 2 minuter or so it should be available again for activation.

Sounds like an uber map. Just make sure to make the outside of the hangar as good as the inside.

I think something better then an overload would be in order, something along the lines of remote controling the mech's weapons from a console next to it or something. or have the player be able to get into the cockpit and pire from their.

becuase then the thing would dish out pain but still be defeseless from behind
