I only recently understood how to change levels. Even more recently i got it to work. However there is still a lingering problem. Whenever I change my map levels, i always get transferred OUTSIDE of the solide. I know that i have the correct map names in each trigger_changelevel, i have the correct landmark names in, and both of my landmarks are named landmark1. Yet i always get the character transferred to outside the solid. any ideas?

Yes What you need to do is make sure everything is named correctly if so then check to see if all the landmarks are aligned. if it still doesn't work then I really don't know--but you can try this.

Unberakable

Have you got an info_playerstart in the new level?

Nope you don't need one once you trigger the changelevel You go right into the other map, the landmarks are there so that the two levels will be aligned--umm- its hard to ewxplain there are some goodinfo in the "changing levels tutorial"

I had this problem the first time I did a "successful" level transition. I don't know what causes it, but it might be the placement of the info_landmark. When I made the map, the landmark came after the transition brush, but I think it's supposed to be before it. Also, having an info_player_start in the new map is a good idea when testing the maps if you're making a mod or something, because you may want to test it from that map, and it's annoying to play the entire mod first. That's a mistake I made with my OpFor map pack.

BTW, another thing that can cause the problem is the naming of the landmarks and level transitions. Make sure it is lowercase, make sure it isn't a long name, and make sure it doesn't have any punctuation in it.

I know what it is. I had a problem with this, but solved it. the landmark in both maps needs to be near the ceiling. it is too close to the ceil if you get outside the solid.

Umm, isn't that what Vassy said?

Also, u have to make sure that the areas before and after the change are EXACTLY the same! Otherwise it will not work (well it will just not very good). For example, lets say you have a hallway with a changlevel in the middle. The hallway has to be the same in both maps. So make the full length hallway, with the changeleve; and copy it into both the maps. Then add the info_landmark to each. Its imperative that they both be kept the same. I had this problem too, so I deleted the hallway and made a new one which I copyed into both maps and it worked perfectly

Yep Its best to just copy Parts from map 1 to map 2.and then add on. yep anyway this is a waste of time-why do i bother- this forums over...
