I've made a cool tank, and the brushes are all right, but to make the tank work I need the origin brush in the right place. I have no idea where to put it. I will put the map I'm using to create the tank prefab in the unfinished maps section very soon.

P.S. To sum that up, can someone put it in for me? When you have got it in the right place (if you bother trying), somehow get it back to me.

P.S.S. I dont really need the entities, just the brushs in the right place.

Uhm... what do you want the tank to do?
  • Move (drive to a spot).
  • Stationary chassis, but barrel rotates and fires automatically on enemies.
  • Combination of both (move to a spot, then become stationary and barrel is active).

I bet he'll want it to fire while moving. :P

...Well, I was just going to use the tank to be stationary and just fire.

I think he needs to know where the origin brush goes :) .

I'm not experienced with func_tanks, but I think the origin brush determines the actual point the gun will rotate around. To place it, create the brush so that its very center is where you want the gun to rotate. You can see the center of the brush by looking for the little "x" in the center of it (just like all other brushes). Don't forget to cover it in tools/origin! :)

If you still can't figure this out, look at the func_rotating tutorial we have here - it's a much simpler use of the origin brush, and will be easier to learn from.

Hope that helps :)

I think I know where it goes now, but I haven't checked. :|

... tell me it's tied to a func_tank and you have all the Yaw/pitch ranges set accordingly... And if it's not set to active, or if it's set to controllable, it wont work without being triggered.

Is Yaw up/down, left/right or do I just suck at map making?
