Hello,

i'm a noob at mapping.
i read some articles about the buyzones for T en CT in CS:S, but i cant make it work.

i read i have to place an entity func_buyzone, i cant find this entity in the entities-list, so i typed it myself as it should, i placed that entity in my map, but i can't change it's dimensions, as is not in the list of entities i guess...

read somewhere else to make a brush, the size you need it, and tie it to the func_buyzone entity, but dont know how to do this.

So what is best to do? I just need a common buyzone for both spawn-points (CT and T).

create the brush the size you want, create the object, then right click on it and tie it to an entity. The buyzone entity will appear in that list

can you pleaz explain more in detail, cause i still cant make it work.

this is what i tried;
1. block-tool: make cube where i want the buyzone in CS:S
2. entity-tool: type func_buyzone, placed the entity above the cube i made.
3. rightclicked both to test, but not correct, 'tie to' is in the list, but dont know what has to be selected and so, do i have to give something a name or so, sry but im noob...

thx for the help!!

solved problem, i get it, thx for help!!

so (for other noobs as i):

1. create a brush with block-tool the size you want your buyzone.
2. right-click it and choose (tie to entity)
3. you should get a dialogbox where you can find the func_buyzone in the list, choose it, and select for what team the buyzone is. DONE.

Still 1 question; in an example-map of cbble, i saw the buyzone had a specific texture, why does mine has the texture i gave when i created the bursh? what texture is given normally to a buyzone?

AAATRIGGER is commonly used for texturing entities. It doesn't really make any difference, it's pretty much just for making them obvious to yourself in Hammer when you're making stuff.

Read the In The Beginning tutorials.

YAY the first time Seventh had wrong! He's talking about CS:S
The normal buyzone texture is trigger. I dont know if you could have other textures than "/tools" section

Not the first time, I keep doing this ;).

My apologies. I'm still not sure that it affects the game though. Is it just an in-editor thing?

Put whatever you want on a buyzone. It's a volumetric trigger so it shouldn't really matter.

Hell, I have about 10 trigger textures, all for convenience as opposed to any real function.

PLZ HELP

you can't SEE the buyzone. its invisible, non-exsistent. its only an empty area in which you can bring up and use the buy menu

Jeez, way to bump an old post ;P

If you're in the buyzone you'll get the shopping cart icon on your HUD to let you know that you can buy things and that you are indeed in a buyzone. It won't actually support anything or anyone so you have to create it over walkable space that people can get to.
