Alright, here's the problem.

Ok, so someone is trying to make the perfect game console, that everybody would like. It would have the look of the Xbox 360 (everybody's favourite console look), using the Wii's controls (everybody's favourite controller), and have PS3's games (Everybody's favourite games.)

Do you see the problem?

In case you have not by now, here it is:

Everybody likes something different. People have different tastes!

Some people like different things over others. Others will disagree with them. It's just the way things work. Some people like shooters like Halo, while others like platformers like Mario or Sonic, and more people yet again like RPGs like Zelda. Some people may like them all! (I do, but again, that's just me!)

My point is, you might give some points of advice. There are very few times one console is a bad choice (such as the N-Gage), but still, if someone likes the PS3, if they really want it and like it, let them spend the 600 bucks! I forgot to mention that even though the PS3 is in a horrible state right now (in my opinion, that is), Once the price of the high end version is about 400 bucks, and there are some good games out for it by then, I'm probably going to pick one up. But I am going to wait. Besides, I just got a Wii, and I love the damn thing, Zelda is a fucking blast to play.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to one fact:

Not everyone likes the same stuff!

My Judgement:

PS3 > 360 > Wii

PS3, yes, has high-end graphics, but not only that, playstation has put out some awsome games in the past. Their powerful new system will let them pull the strings and hopefully get more creative.

360 as well has put out a great variety of games that have become almost overatingly popular. Like halo and halo 2, halo 3 has some hype. Not only that, there is Prey, and Gears of War, and so on.

Wii saved their as with a new innovative controller. Even though the system is a Gamecube with more ram. Yes, we'll see plenty of point and do stuff type games in the future, which will get monotonous and less popular unless they pump out awsomely epic games that have fanbases like Zelda, Metroid, and Mario.

The most successful system I would have to say is 360. Good games, not too over-the-top expensive to buy, and offers promising quality in the future.

I agree with rimrook completely.

At the moment the PS3 is struggling to keep up. Not so many good games, overpriced, and problem with the reverse compatibility. But give it a year or so, and everything should be running smoothly.

360 beat everyone to the punch. They were release much earlier than all 3 systems. Thus giving it much more time to produce high-end games. It later on introduced reverse compatibility (at least that's what I was told).

The Wii. Alright, people are bragging about this one. Problem is, some people are REALLY stupid, and I don't even mean born with a defect. They don't wear the wristband thing, and are too violent with it, and end up breaking something, or hurting someone. But one problem is, Nintendo is known as much for the games lots of people crave nowadays. I seriously couldn't bring myself to get a Wii. I would rather play crappy-ass Half-Life mod then Super Mario "Wii Edition".

The 360 IS on top of it all, but the PS3 may have a promising future.

The PS3 is 600 fucking dollars. 600.

PS3 and 360 are last generation. Nintendo is the only one bringing something new to the table.

and if sony has backwards compatibility, look at the Wii. it plays games from nearly every nintendo console ever released.

The Wii's backward compatibility isn't anywhere near as good as Sony's, considering that their entire catalogue of games from the PS1 and the PS2 are compatible with the PS3.

The only thing I care about is that the PS3 is getting its ass handed to itself and boy am I laughing hard.

Owning a Virtual Boy would be cool, they're pretty rare. And utterly useless.

It's not the consoles the ones who should bring all of the novelty, it's the games. PS3 and 360 bring better visuals to the table, both in rendering power and output image resolution. Better visuals is the reason why PS2 was made after PS, Gamecube after N64, Gameboy Advanced after Gameboy etc. ""Graphics are not everything" is not an excuse for any company IMO.
Wii introduces a new way of playing (which could also be said about the NES light gun or the GunCon I use for Time Crisis :D) but stays behind in image quality and has a better price.
They all have their pros and cons, and like others have said, it depends on what you like or how much you want to pay. Personally, I haven't seen enough greatness to justify getting any of the three systems yet. Time will tell.

Graphics aren't everything. I do believe the PSP proved that, and then some. The DS is currently kicking its ass all over the world, and that's got the same power as a Nintendo 64 (maybe even less). Methinks innovation is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

The price of the PSP has dropped to absurd levels, so if anything they should be selling a bucketload now. Alas...

No. As stated by Skeetz, it is all personal taste. Everyone likes different games. My problem with consoles is that they aren't capable of what my interests are:

FPS's . (They suck on consoles)
Simulaters (I dont think they made any for consoles)
RTS's (Real Time Strategy (The lack of keyboard renders RTS's awful on consoles)

Oh, and of course I don't like playing games on a TV. (Especially ours)
