A long time ago, I bought an iPod mini and I wanted a better way to hold the thing while it was charging. Letting it lay on the desk sucked as I couldn't view the screen, it got dirty/ scrathed etc, etc. The iPod mini dock seemed like a good idea, but $40 is just too much for a pretty piece of plastic with a through port.

So I built a dock out of legos.

Now I have another iPod, a nano, but I don't think legos will work this time :

I don't get people that 'need' a 40GB MP3 player. Do you really need hundreds of hours of music at hand?

ipod shuffle is really good for me, because i dont need a screen, and i only have a small amount of music, 400 mb or so.

i'd buy another. the new shuffles are mice and small

I have an iPod Nano too. I got the one with the least amount of memory (because I'm cheap), 2gb. It has everything I need so I'm very happy with it

Does anybody really needs that screen to watch clips? It's useless, you'll probebly only use that screen once or twice but then stop. Besides who needs all these MP3/MP4 players, I prefer my old MP3 Diskman, No need to browes for hours through a long list of songs, only open a bag and choose the disk I like.

Actually, yeah I do need it. I watch full movies (not just clips) on my iriver clix all the time while on long car rides, so it's really useful.

Poor reasoning. It's easier to carry and search through a bag of CD's and swap them over every time you wish to change, then click a few buttons on something no bigger then your hand? Ok.

The color screens are useful on the new video iPods; I use mine to watch TV or other episodes of things on the way home from work since the bus is slow. Also, the advantage of a CD player is a decent one; you can carry more music for cheaper and have more flexibility (more music? burn/carry more CDs!)

Well, those Mp3 discs can hold a ton of songs, last I heard. That doesn't mean I'd go for a Diskman, seeing as they're huge, and you can't stuff them in your pocket.

So? I'll tell you whats very well made. My old trusty walkman fell off my house(2 floors, each floor a bit higher then 2 meters tall and a roof, that makes it about 5 meters) then a stone brick fell on it, nothing happend to it and it plays as soundly as ever. Plus it's ~30 years old. If it were still easy to find casstes or copy to them then I would use it. The minor loss of quality isn't that noticible and bad. Only if you play it at top volume (which will ruin your ears so you wont notice anything anyway ) you will notice the low quality.

But now I just use a diskman, I don't listen to much music and don't love so many bands so I have no problem with it. If I carry with me each time ~6 disks in a bag It's better then anything else. And who needs more then that. If each disk has approximetly an hour of music then they all suffice for whole 6 hours of listening, and I'm not sure nobody listen that much to music so I say it can keep me happy for a whole day.

I don't have an mp3 player/walkman etc, so I just hum. Saying that, I do have an mp3 player and a walkman, but I prefer to hum.

CD will always give you better quality than MP3 anyway.

I use an MP3 player mostly for convinience. They're smaller, holds more, and I don't need to lug around CDs and change them and all that crap. The moving parts aren't as weak as a Discman's either.

Using a Creative Zen Vision:M at the moment. Served me well.

Elon, will you friggin' listen to me? I don't watch movies while I'm walking, because you're right, that would be quite silly. However, in situations where I'm sitting for long periods, music tends to bore me a bit, so I use its movie capabilities. That's not silly at all, and with the right lighting, I can get quite immersed on it's tiny 2.5 inch screen. Try doing that on a Walkman.

I have GoldenEye on my Zen, as well as a season of Scrubs. Great for the train.

i got an ipod video for Christmas. its good for car rides because when one albums ends i don't have to change a cd but just let it continue down the play list. im a bit disappointed by the batteries though even though i put all the settings way down.
if anyone has it, what program do you use to put vids on?

Only problem is the display is outright ugly. The model I purchased back in the day is discontinued, but Creative is still pumping out some quality players. Also GG Lego ;D
