Engine: HL1

1: Make a halway
2: ???
3: IRC people vote on the best one
4: Profit. etc..

Ok.. Make a hallway. Freestyle. Obviously, it must have exit/entry point to be a halway (duh).

Post a screenshots and or compiled bsp! - you can post .map files if you like. Anything over 5 MB i won't bother by arse looking at. It's a hallway ffs... Use your common sense.

Your ability to follow vague instructions will be taken into account. Questions about the compo will count against you.

Needs more contrast. Smaller light attenuation with higher brightness values would bring out the edges.

Otherwise geometry wise, is superior than most i'v seen.

To create atmosphere maybe? A dark map has this so called, i don't know, "horror" feeling perhaps.
Or their monitor gamma and/or brightness values are set too low.

Anywho, im entering. :) Working on something now.

Goldsource maps turn out darker because the light doesn't bounce as realistically unless you force it to(and kill the engine). Come onnnnnnnnnn.

All right I'll join. I'm tired of solving problems with models and the worst part is... making textures, I just can't stand it, it's so boring and time consuming, I don't even map anymore, just make textures. A little rest by making some map with the regular Hl1 textures will do me good. :)

I remember that you posted a pic like that a year ago, brattylord. Nice though the archtitecture don't fit the theme what so ever. These arches may fit in an acient or futuristic setting, but not black mesa. :|

I'm too tired to think of a layout, so I'll just do something similar to yours, BL, only heavly modified and futuristic.

Well at first I decieded to use his map as a base map because my mind was so focused in the Ocean Temple mod, also it's a good practice for those map from base compos.
But anyway now after I extended the map a little the only thing similar are these arches, the maps look quite diffrent, my imagination started working again.

So yes I did steal that arching idea, though it's hard to say it's much, all it was just a few arches on the floor with holes in the middle. I've done things like my arches in previous maps, and placed plenty of light fixtures on pillars, I probebly would have done so anyway, I love placing light fixtures in weird places.

how do you map at such a low resolution, Elon?
A more important question is how do I play at such a low resolution, I play half-life in window mode, 640x480. Stupid steam wont let me use other resolutions... well exept 320x360. This sucks, why do I even put up with that program. :cry:

Hl1 works fine on wow version, and with openGL too, in steam it's fucked up.
