Hello,

I make the HyperCube map, but i have a problem... 27 rooms (3x3x3) is finished, and i recived this error message:
"Error: Exceeded MAX_MAP_MODELS
Description: The maximum number of brush based entities has been reached
Howto Fix: Remove unnecessary brush entities, consolidate similar entities into a single entity"
I don`t understand why come this error message. This is the 2nd version of the map. In 1st each room was func_wall walls (each maked from 5 brush with func_wall and solid texture + 4 simple brush), and when i recived this message i maked this 2nd version. NO FUNC_WALL! Just doors (72), ladders (brush with AAA... texture), light (27), brush with CLIP texture (27), a death body and 3 decals. Each wall is maked from 4 brush, with simple texture...
Pls help :cry:

You have 72 doors!?

From what I can gather its exactly as the comile log says. You have too many brush based entities.

Yes 72 doors, and? Just the doors are brush based entities. Don't say that a can't have more than 72 brush based entities in a map... :
Yes 72 doors, what do you want from a HyperCube map? :biggrin:

HyberCube? As in: Cube 2: Hypercube, the movie?
FTW!

Anyway, do you have any more brush based entities then just func_walls and func_doors? I know how a HyperCube from the movie looks like, and there are a lot of those rooms, so you can easely reach a maximum...

I forget that the ladder is a brush based entiti :S So I need to remove a lot of ladder, but the number of ladders is now minimal in a room. Just func_door and func_ladder are brush based entitis in the map. In result you cannot go up in the cube, dammit :( Now I can remove 8 func_ladders, so I can make plus 27*8 doors. Now I don`t know how large will be the map, but I will make teleporters to the edge of the cube. The teleporters are brush based entitis, so I`m in trouble. If somebody wants to help me, I can send the hammer file, because I really want to make this map :(
I need to know how many brush based entiti can be in a map!!!

http://www.slackiller.com/tommy14/errors.htm go there, once you have go to file on the top left of the screen, save us, give it a name and choose where you want to save it, then you will have that page for life.

So the problem you are getting is becasue of one of the below reasons:
  • To many of 1 type of entitiy
  • To many brush based entities (func_door, func_wall...)
  • To many models on the map
There may be a command that you can add to your compiler but if there isn't then I feel sorry for you. However if it is a singleplayer map then you could spilt up the map into serveral smaller maps.

max_map_models limit is 400, I have 72 doors AND :zonked: 324 ladders :cry: So I really need to remove a lot of ladder. I think I can remve 8 ladder from each room, then just 108 ladders will be, and I can make a little bigger map. I try to make a good map, but the limits...

I have 108 doors not 72 :S

Dude, that isn't big at all!
I believe you can actually combine the ladders per room. All ladders in one room are assigned to one func_ladder entity.
1 func_ladder per room.

216 is used by ladder,door and teleport from 400
Will be work, if in a room I select the 4 ladderbrush and from they i make one func_ladder?

Do this with doors? I think all doors will open, when open just one from them, right? What do you think, if I make one func_ladder from all ladder brushes, will work?
