Well... a very weird problem.

Seems to me like you used a model texture. Hammer has a bunch of textures which are still displayed even though you're not supposed to use them.
So try changing the texture...Also do you buildcubemaps?

cycle through the filters in the texture browser.
It helps.
AND it will also tell you if it's self illuminated or not depending on the little icons on the texture.

If you've used the HL2 textures for a good 2 years you kinda get to know which ones not to use. Mainly the bottom lot when you filter somethong.
