This was originally meant to be a TWHL3 feature, though due to the lack of mapping activity in the site - we thought of giving it a shot now.

The drill is simple. You vote for a map/mod, that has been posted in the Map Vault between 01-07-2007 and 31-07-2007. The 5 maps/mods, who recieve the most votes are given a poll, which decides the winner. The winner entry gets it's own page with an exclusive review in by the MotM team (kinda like a compo winner page), while the author recieves an official MotM reward the second TWHL3 arrives.

[m]Restrictions:[/m]
  • The entry must be posted in the Map Vault's completed maps section by it's respective author between 01-07-2007 and 31-07-2007.
  • You can only vote once (you can still replace your vote later on by re-voting)
  • You can't vote for a map/mod you've posted.
  • You can only vote for maps made for Half-Life/Half-Life 2, their official mods (HLDM/HL2DM, CS/CS:CZ/CS:S, DoD/DoD:S, TFC, BS, OpFor) and Spirit.
  • no kilboxez adn aim mpas omg lol
The voting will continue untill August 15th, so you've still got time to post something before July 31st and stand a chance in winning!

Ah shit, I'm not making any sense. Disregard everything I said, I suppose I was a bit mistaken too.

Anyway, they're right, you don't enter so to speak, but if you happen to make a map before July 31, then you're essentially entering without doing anything.

Merged, obviously. There aren't anywhere near enough mods being made to have both at the same time. Certainly not one per month.

That would make the competition more fair, though since we don't get more than 20 completed maps/mods per month (usually less), splitting it wouldn't be a good idea.

:) im workin on a map pack right now.
I'm calling it HL:WTF
and im going to be making 1 map every 3 days based off whatever i think of that day in work.

No real storyline until they're all done. I'll go back and make SOMETHING up.
Might even turn out better than most of the stuff we get :)

I'd say there's more bias towards GoldSrc here than Source. Just look at how many GoldSrc maps are in the Map Vault, and then compare that to how many Source maps there are. You just don't see a lot of Source mappers start off here, because there are thousands of Source-only sites and forums since Half-Life 2 was released, but not many still dedicated to Half-Life.

I'm pro-Goldsource :) But Mansion3 was awesome and nothing interesting for Goldsource has been released lately.

I'm currently downloading IP's new aim_riverbank. It looks quite interesting. A nominee perhaps?

Its really good and clean design in a small dose. Reminds me so much of Sancefar, and even though its a beta, its still well made. :heart:

Also, is there going to be a MOTM for August, or is this the August MOTM?

We rarely use the polls for anything useful, so why the hell not?

Besides. Its inspirational! I got to work a little faster after I heard about, and many others are mapping too.... that is if a nice little shiny trophy gets added to our acocunts. Point being, not everyone can or want to enter the compo's and there hasn't been one for quite some time.
