turn

"c:documents and settingsdomain administratordesktopa's stuffhalflife stuffmap rmfs"

into

"c:maps"

modify your settings for the new path, and try again. don't know if it'll work though.

i just noticed, theres no --- END hlbsp ---, that could be the problem, bsp isn't running right. i haven't mapped for hl1 for a long time tho.

Hammer doesn't like long paths with spaces in them, try making a new folder with an shorter path like C:mapping and place all your stuff in there.

Just tried using hammer on my computer that actually compiles, and it doesnt have ----end hlbsp---- either, so that cant be the problem, it has to do something with a missing .prt file, or at least thats how it looks, and i searched, and there is no .prt file. problem is, this computer's compiling just doesnt create the .prt, my other computer does
the only difference is one computer has a higher CPU speed, this really isnt making much sense :

begins banging head on desk

@ killer-Duck you cant get much shorter than C:maps

The compile-tools should be placed in the same folder where Hammer Editor is installed.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 17:17:43 UTC Post #235566
Ah yes this error is always a tough one. It can be a number of things. Upload your map into the problem section of the map vault and I'll take a look at it.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 17:38:12 UTC Post #235570
BTW, do you get this error with all maps you create or only this one?
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 18:00:14 UTC Post #235575
If I remember right it is a map related error, not a set up related error.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 18:04:08 UTC Post #235577
If I remember correctly it could be because of both. Anyway, if this happens on all the maps he tries to compile then its probably set up-related, but if it happens only on this one then its probably mapping-related.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 18:17:49 UTC Post #235578
yeah :) Where is this "hlmapper" guy?!?!
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-03 22:07:48 UTC Post #235613
sorry for the late reply, but some of us have other things to do other than sit in front of a computer :P

I get this error every map i compile, so it is setup related, and yes, my compile tools are in the hammer tools folder
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-04 03:46:34 UTC Post #235627
Well than it can only be one of two things. Its either the path to the tools, if thats right (not to long, no spaces) than its your compile tools. Re download a fresh version or download a different version.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-04 05:21:24 UTC Post #235628
Re-install Hammer to an shorter path, as it is now it seems to be installed on your desktop, install it in like C:maps and place the compile tools in the Hammer-folder.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-04 21:33:58 UTC Post #235686
ok, hammer is now installed in : c:valve hammer editor (cant get any shorter)

and i get the same error.

Posted 17 years ago2007-10-05 07:21:56 UTC Post #235704
As someone pointed out before, your hlbsp-process isn't running through correctly and therefore doesn't create a portal-file.
  • Re-check your paths in the options and make sure everything is set up correctly.
  • At run map(f9) make sure all tools are set to "Normal".
  • Have you placed out correct entities?(a minimum would be a light and player-spawn)
  • Re-download the compiling tools, the ones you've got may have got corrupted.
  • Use some front-end compiler like Nems Batch Compiler.
Posted 17 years ago2007-10-05 15:58:36 UTC Post #235760
reinstalled hammer,
reinstalled zlht,
paths are as simple as can be,
map consists of player start, 6 brushes (room) and a light

i guess ill try that batch compiler, can you post a link to where i can get it?

Thank everyone who posted on this thread, for trying to help me out

Here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=2 (The site seems to be down at the moment but should work again shortly, otherwise i think you can get the batch compiler from FPSBanana.)
