There is really no point to making HL1 look like HL2, why would you want to anyway. I will admit I have used a few HL2 things in our new mod HL:SF BUT I have limited it to using static props and sprite effects as these are the easiest to reproduce and use as I can limit how each is used.

I'm am going to be really brave and say that everyone who said something in this very burnt thread was right in their own way, if only everyone could see that

I didn't read ALL the posts on the previous page, but most of them.

If you want this mod to succeed, you need to make your own models, with less polls. Maybe just fool around in a modelingprogram and alter the grunts to combines and things like that. It would make the models fit the graphics, run much smoother and it wouldn't be illegal.

People change, so I have no problem with you being back. But it doesn't look like you listen to us, though.

HL1 can't handle HL2. There's no if's or but's, if you're working in the unedited HL1 engine or Spirit, it's just not possible... Once more to better grasp the concept here, HL1 can't handle HL2.

But why do you feel the need to create a game that already exists? I mean, it's not like you created it, if you finnish it? I think you should get some ideas of your own and create something new.

also, this was the second forum i was ever on, now it's like the... uh... 5th or 7th?
This is the 2nd ever forum i was ever an active member on. You don't need to go though forums like underwear to learn how to act. You Should know. But i do agree with everyone else.

This is illegal, and pretty much a waste of time because you're dealing with 10 year old software.

maybe if you use the half life 2 models in half life 2 it would look better :)
i think i might as well go get HL2.
Yes rimrook. Seeing what you can do in HL1 makes me shiver at the though of what you can accomplish with the Source engine. Just finish 6D first ;)

well, due to my teacher getting mad and blaming my mod for me always forgetting to work on my math, i've been forced to fucking remove half life and my mod.

i decided to start the mod in summer again, but oh, no, i just "have" to be having more social behavier during the summer!

you see, i actually have a life, but oh no, my teacher just has to ruin all that, so now everythings uninstalled, nothing left but gta: vice city and my stupid schoolwork.
i can't wait until shes gone, then i can get back to my mod. well, if she's ever gone, that is.

If you are homeschooled, that would explain half of your social problems. That isn't the case is it?

Really, this mod is too over the top for HL1. Use whatever you used to rip and port content to make new models and stuff. You shouldn't need to port HL2 to have a popular mod, a good mod idea that is fun will make your mod popular. Good games/mods pretty much self advertise by word of mouth.

Come up with a simple and catchy gameplay style that's entertaining, challenging, and fun then run with it.

If you want I have some dead ideas taking up space in my head. :)

rofl, she's not my math teacher and she comes over and uses my machine most of the time because of a school project being on my machine.

no, you don't understand, she thinks i'm working on my mod more then i am working on my math, it doesn't matter if i put it on a different machine, hell even put it on a different planet, it won't make a difference.

Homeschooling...

Ouch, man.

When I was a kid, I wished I was homeschooled, 'cos then I could play my SNES during recess and lunch. Nowadays, I play my DS during lectures, so it all worked out. The boring and utterly useless lectures that is, I'm not a deviant.

As for this mod: crazy. Way too ambitious and I really don't see why you want to do it.

Your young, so hear this; Do your homework and all that stuff first, then work on your mod. Only you could have possibly let this slip. Only now, you have to regain her trust and sneak back into modding and keep up with your homework.

I do it all the time. Yes I would rather do it in bulk, but good planning allows you work smart and fast instead of just hard.
I'm not a deviant.

How the hell do you have a school project and be homeschooled at the same time, and also have this "teacher" coming over to your house constantly? None of this makes any sense, really.

I used to be homeschooled before high school... had more friends then than I do now, lulz.

I see no problem trying to make HL2 stuff in HL1 for fun, let alone anything else that people say is impossible/unfeasible... it's just Like Captain P said: you won't be able to make it exacatly like HL2, but with a little creativity/adaptation you could emulate much of it fairly well.

There's tons of stuff i never thought possible or never even thought of that's been achieved in HL1, and i continue to be surprise. Goldsource is an amazingly versatile and resilient engine after all these years, and it's not dead yet. = )

Teacher.
my math teacher
Left some stuff out of my quote to be totally bias.
my math teacher wont let me map
math teacher
stupid math teacher made me delete my mod
And the last 3 quotes were made up just to add some false credibility to my original statement.

if you guys were homeschooled, you wouldn't be asking these questions or saying she's my math teacher, geez

ant: meh, thats too bad, when you're homeschooled, you can just do you're schoolwork, and then 2 seconds after that you can do whatever you want to do, play games, play with you're guinea pig, watch tv, whatever you do after school.

EDIT: i finally found a tut on adding a new weapon to half life, and now i have the ar2
(aka irifle, combine rifle, overwatch pulse rifle, ect.) added to my mod! i will edit soon with screeneys.

but there are also some problems i will fix soon, the gun doesn't appear in hud, and the gun also can't fire because i don't know how to give the stupid gun some ammo.

Hey come on, he only is 11 years old. I would have killed myself if I was 11 years old omg, he will commit mistakes(this mod is one of them), but let him learn from mistakes himself.

I'm against homeschool, I think you would have a lot of friends and you would enjoy school a lot more than beeing at house. Your class mates would admire you for you mapping skills.

BTW, are you the guy who wrote Half life: Full Life Consequences ?

6 of those images aren't necessary, after the first one i can clearly see you put the irifle in.

It looks really nice too! maybe once the 6D source is released when we finish the whole thing, you can add a proper gravity gun and basic physics to go with it. what ever you do, don't do that lame SoHL gravity gun crap. its no good for an extensive project.

Wow. I can wholeheartedly say, this is the mod. I mean, HL2 ported to GoldSource, a ten-year-old engine, how awesome is that?
I'm more than sure you'll manage a project this huge all by yourself. The current media, showing your model decompiling skills really speaks for itself.
Good luck! If I were you - I'd refrain from posting any media untill the mod's finished in order to double everyone's anticipation of the project. For best results - hit everyone with the finished product when they're all thinking you've given up. ;)

the purpose of those 6 images are to prove i added it in.

i'm pretty sure if i added one image, there would be at least one guy saying "omg, you just photoshopped that in in 2 seconds", so i took 6 images, each in different spots and in different lighting conditions, to prove it's actually in-game and not just a image pasted on top of another image.
For best results - hit everyone with the finished product when they're all thinking you've given up. ;)
this is what i actually did, you see, a long time ago when i said i gave up (not sure if i posted it here or not) i didn't actually give up, i did this to stop them from telling me "omg, this mod's ginna fail" so, i was actually working on it the whole time, behind their backs. :P
what ever you do, don't do that lame SoHL gravity gun crap. its no good for an extensive project.
i wasn't planning to, infact, i couldn't even get the damn thing to work.

Are you using my HL2 weapon ports? You say you learned how to port source content, but the origins and texture alignment on those weapons look awfully similar to the ports I released several months ago. And I know source-for-goldsource fanatics seem to have a thing for taking my ports in particular and using them in their pseudomods :|
