I found some old mod projects the other day and I realized that I've started to make quite a few cool mods but never really finished anything.

So, in order to make sure my effort isn't totally lost I decided to make the ChickenFist museum of abandoned projects. And a few people has asked how I made som of the Flat-life features, so there's also Flat-Life source code avalible.

And to squeeze some discussion into this thread, do you have any old cool projects you abandoned?

Quite interesting to read and watch. I myself don't really have projects but like most people I started a few mini mods and failed.

Something I was proud of was my ghost which flew towards you and went through the wall. If you don't mind here's the vid:

I also started a HL2 SP mod to really show off my abilities however I was way over the top and had planned 15 + maps all with a nice plot and concept art.

It was too much for me and I ended up making the first two levels before stopping. Maybe I'll go back to it someday but the first map was that apartment map I pasted into the WIP forum and the second map was an area of East Mesa from HL2 that you didn't see. I had it so you walked up to a fence and saw Freeman and Mossman enter the lift...

In the end you would go to the top of the Citadel just below Breen when he was trying to escape and you would help Freeman resulting in your death and Gman walking away smiling.

Still it was fun to make and once I get this modelling down I think I'll go back to it and work on the details. It's my best work to be honest apart from my old school remake.

That's my project stuff anyway...Right now I'm just learning 3ds Max for my second year at uni.

Projects? yes.
Projects that I have abandoned? yes.
Cool projects that I have abandoned? no.
There's a reason that I abandoned them ;)
The others are just on hiatus or something.

Wow, don't get me started about how much maps, 'projects' or whatnot i've abandoned... they go above 100. Especially my projects with a 'well thought out concept' were a succes.. in the complicated process of 'Open Hammer.. 'kay, where do I begin?.. Form 1 room.. 'kay, where do I continue?.. end Hammer' I gave up and went on to the next big thing.

I do the same when I map. I get an idea, open Hammer, make some rooms, run out of ideas and think "Oh look! A squirrel!" and go on to do something completely different.

I don't want to know what you do with Squirrels.

Lol, I must have made about a hundred maps that were 'cool ideas' then they were half finished and then they looked like 'mud pies made with real mud'. Finally though, with the nobal strength of a few guys, I am actually getting off my ass and pulling out a BIG project.
