are you definately using the Steam version of Half-Life?

Is this HLDM or a mod? If it's a mod, when was the mod made? If it's an older mod, it probably doesn't have detail texture support.

i started 2 days ago my first mod, and i have followed the tutorials (these out-dated :p) and i am using Steam
Is this HLDM or a mod?

What SDK version are the dlls based on? 2.3? Or did you copy them from half-life.gcf? Or from a WON installation?

hello i dont know how to check dlls version but i think they are 2.3 (hl.dll 944KB and client.dll 491 KB) because Steam keeps on updating my games if an update is available

i am going to set-up a fresh mod tommorow maybe its gonna work

ps. i saw a mod using these effects, texture details but there were not a file called mymap_detail inside "maps" folder

It looks like your hammer/wally windows are showing through to the game screen?(i dunno why nobody else mentioned it) Are you alt-tabbing or ctrl-escaping out of half-life too?

For starters try shutting down hammer and any other programs before you run the half-life. (If you're using hammer to compile which i assume you are check the "don't run game" checkbox in the compile dialog window.

More questions:

What system specs do you have?
What render options are you using for half-life? (openGL,direct3D, etc)
Have you set any special options recently for your video card for running fullscreen 3D programs?

Uh... I think he edited the pictures in an image-editing program(MSPaint, Photoshop, etc) intentionally so all relevant information would be in one picture...

Also, check the console for any errors when the map has loaded.

Have you read the beta 5 changelog?
They locked r_detailtextures to 0 cause people could make their own wallhack with it.

I know, for a fact, that the current HL client supports detail textures. I've been experimenting with them on my HL for the past week or so, just to be sure.
So this is pretty baffeling if you really have everything set up the way you do. All I can suggest now is for you to re-extract the DLLS, both client and game, and overwrite the ones you're using in your mod to be sure you're using the same ones that vanilla HL uses.

The FGD you use wouldn't matter, by the way. The FGD is only something Hammer interprets, and has no effect on the compiled map. EG: if you use use the CS FGD to put an m4a1 in a Half Life map, when you load it, the engine will just shrug it off, because the entity doesn't exist.

has bump-mapping anything to do with details-textures upgrade?
