I am currently making maps for HL2 (the leaked beta). I am going to buy the game when it's released and continue making maps for it and hopefully soon after CS2.

I have heard of a feature that the compiler has to speed up compile time is that it can use multiple computers on the LAN to compile at once. Is that already possible in HL mapping? Has anyone tried it? I got 5 computers on my LAN so if this is possible I could cut compile times a lot!

Did RCS use a multi computer system? They are gone now... so no idea, but you might want to check the back news at collective to see what happened to Remote Compiling Systems....

As for the HL2 Leaked Beta. Are you making maps based on what you think HL2 will be capable of, or are you actually using the stolen code Beta to make maps?

I am hoping you are anticipating the awesome possibilities of the HL2 editor.

I feel a Huge Rant coming on here, but I am going to contain myself and just say, that if you are using the stolen source code in some way to produce maps, then you are not only cheating yourself, but every other mapper as well. ( Note that I said "IF" you were using the code. I did not say that you were!! )

Please, anyone who considers downloading HL2: [b]don't![b] VALVe have spent five years making it - how would you feel if you spent that long making something, then someone went and stole it and showed everybody a crappy leaked version? No wonder VALVe's stuff is buggy atm!

now they are rewriting the code so it will be released next summer in 2004 so they better dindt stole the code :(

and if were up to me i'd ban you too, - sorry thats just my oppinion,
i feel very strongly about this issue, and i was going to start an HL2 content boycott - but then i realised that i'd be contradicting myself..
do the right thing, report the website or the location of where you got the code, and delete it off your computer

Sharing stolen source code with everyone is not such a good idea.
The fact that Valves security was breached and that the code was stolen, means that I now have to wait until late next year for a look at HL2. That doesn't impress me one little bit.

The fact that they are changing the code means that there is a good possibility that your maps created with the unofficial beta, will not actually work with the final release. So it seems that getting a head start, will not actually be getting a head start.

You are welcome to post thoughts and ideas but refrain from posting any maps created with the stolen code, as they will be deleted. ( I deleted your billiards room map because you said it was an HL2 map, and since Valve haven't released HL2, the the only people that can view it are people with the illegal beta, I will not support the use of the stolen source.)

I believe that the best course of action would be to follow Kol's and Seventh's advice.... delete and report.

If I were a moderator I wouldn't ban you but I would recommend you deleted the stolen scource code. And report the place where you got it.
Just keep mapping for HL until you buy HL2.

You know what, this made me think...
Instead of just banning people who got the hl2 source code, try to get as much info from them as possible first - to help valve get ahead of the hackers and end this as soon as possible - I want the game I'll do anything to get it, BUT : if some one on the net or on the street offered me the full hl2 source I?d probably make them bite the curb and forcefully kick them in the back of the head.
