Self explanatory. This mod will be so retarded, that is why it will succeed.

Isometric The Sims Half Life. I love the crate table and chairs set, but where's the bathroom? Or, the player?

How do you control the player?

@DiscoStu: The player is the guy in blue.

@Rimrook: Its strange how from that angle the blocky architecture kind of works. :\

I know this type of game, I cant comeup with game titles. Whatever ... I like that. How do you gonna include finding keys and such? Or, first kill 10 enemys in 1 room, go to another room to pickup the gey, go back, open de gates, defeat a wave of enemys and proceed? meh :D

Did you code this, or make a custom camera angle in flat-life?
I like it, either way. Looks neat.

Well if it took him 7 minutes I'd guess that he didn't code anything :P

Ok... Here's the list of shit that went wrong.

? Camera takes a while to find the player so the view is messed up for a few seconds.
? Any gun with bullets DOES NOT WORK since their projection is camera based.
? Tau Cannon also doesn't work.
? Lack of shadow under player makes jumping difficult.
? Mouse-look is balls.
? If the camera pans too far left or right of the stage, the isometry looks weird.

The camera thing can be fixed, that's been proven in Flatlife. Which this might be an interesting new element to Flatlife if this is to go any further.

The trick is to pull the camera waaaaaaay back by the entire width of the workable area or so. Using the cvar default_fov I zoomed in. Originally its 90 but I set it to as low as it can go which is 10. That flattens the perspective and creates the isometry.

There are some pluses. With a proper camera setup, the isometry will never be messed up. The only way to do that is to code it in like the Top-down mode in Flatlife. If that's the case, an entire map could be made that is not restricted to a small corner.

I typed +strafe in the console and used the move keys to move around in only 8 directions. It was cool but I couldn't mouselook at the same time. Which I believe the mouselook version player model was reversed for some strange reason.

Experiment Failed. Farewell.

Yeah, camera in Goldsource is really buggy and difficult to work with. You are right about the player model having the model inverted when looking up and down. You car tell when you type 'thirdperson' in the console

I really wanted to develop something from this. I'm a little disappointed.
easy come, easy go.
