I'm starting to think the server is a bad idea. Either people complain about the bots being there, or about the bots not being there. Therefore, the problem is not the bots...

Everyone's at 0%. That's because the server doesn't log where bullets hit.

I always join the server but no bots are there to keep me company till someone else arrives. Really if the method where there were always two bots and one left each time a person joined worked it would be great. Other than that, its just our faults for not busting out some new fun maps and setting up scrimmages. Im almost done with another map for the server though...

Be sure to shout in the box, that usually gets peoples attention. That'd what I do, as well as posting a steam announcement before the game begins.

Just a reminder guys.
The current subscription is due for it's second payment January 24th, 2010. That's one month from now.

The cost of keeping it up is another $104 USD.
If you are still interesting in having the server, or possibly upgrading to more player slots or an accelerated server, then I'll start asking for donations again soon.

Also, bots aren't coming back. You guys agreed that you didn't want HPB, and Parabot is too unstable.

Planned changes for the next subscription:
-I'm increasing the max players to 10. I'll cover the difference in cost myself.
-I'm going to try Nuclear Fallout's ping accelerator in hopes of helping our Australian and British friends get somewhat more acceptable latencies. But it's expensive, almost doubling the cost of a server over a 6 month period. We can try one for 2 or 3 months to see how effective it is.
-I'm changing the payment source from the TWHL Paypal account to my personal account. Why? Because I can't pay a subscription to Nuclear Fallout without a card linked to the account, and I only have one card. Switching my card between my personal account and TWHL's server account costs money and is extremely inconvenient. I hope you guys know me well enough by now to trust that I won't scam TWHL out of it's money.
So the new Paypal address to send donations to is "World_Crafter@yahoo.com"-- same as my email address. I'll have a mod update the first post with the correct address.

New cost for 2 months (with accelerator): 87 USD
What I expect from donors: 65 USD

New cost for 3 months (with accelerator): 121 USD
What I expect from donors: 90 USD

New cost for 6 months (without accelerator): 131 USD
What I expect from donors: 95 USD

Payment is due January 24th (Sunday, 3 weeks from now)
Donations are being accepted now.

I'll donate $10-15 any day now. It's fun playing on the server but it's empty most of the time, I hope that "ping accelerator" will help change that.

Remember that donating will net you admin privileges through AMXX.
All users have access to amx_votemap and amx_votekick by default.

myles_room's sound/myles_rats/darkworld.wav takes almost half an hour to download. Did you forget to upload it to the HTTP server?

No one wants to do teamplay on the server. too few people show up and it wouldn't be fun otherwise. I've tried to have things set the server to teamplay just for one map, but it always requires an admin and its more of a pain in the ass. Would be very helpful to have an AMX plugin or something to set it by map automatically, but I'm asking for too much with that.

I'm still trying to come up with a DM non-team based battle game type that'd be fun. So far I have it where the items the player is equipped with is defined by zone. So I can have a glock only zone, crowbar only zone, nade only zone, etc.

Another idea was to make a func_tank map only, by placing several tanks in several fortified locations around the map. Reminisce of the american gladiator show with the mounted tennis ball gun positions.

Come on, guys. We need to use our heads and make an awesome server...

...and CROSSFIRE DOES NOT MAKE THE SERVER AWESOME!

I like teamplay. With AMXX you can have individual map configs, it's built-in so there's no need for a plugin, so mp_teamplay can be set to 1 on whichever maps you want. Tp_beerfort for example, I love that map.

Crossfire is just the default map.

I'm setting up autoconfigs for teamplay maps right now.

I'll add Psilos_Bikinibottom, but not the other two.

I'll add some surf_maps if you can name some. I'm not into the surf scene and I don't know which maps to pick. Teamplay should be a little more fun with a max of 5 players per team instead of 4.

Edit: tp_beerfort and payload should automatically enable team play now and disable team play when the map is changed.

I will but hold the phone. Rim how do you enable certain weapons in certain areas? Does each area take away the players guns and than re equip them each time? That could make for an awesomentoeesha map! And as for your beer fort map, it worked teamplay me and potato played against psilous and hunty. It was really a blast! As for a surf map, should I make it an entire surf map? Or just an architectural based map with surfing here and there/ through it. Prolly what ill do.

I think that's a good idea, so you can play "normal" too, some people don't know how to surf. I don't think that has been done before.

I could whip up a template or example map about it. There was a lot of confusion over the equipping aspect, but the payload map was the icebreaker for a ton of advanced crap concerning triggers.

If anyone has a really large map of some kind, nab the capture points template and just add them in. What's that one map that's really big that everyone loves that I hate? That'd be good for CP.

Any big map. Hell, we can always take a small map and bump the points down to 2 and make it attack/defend.
