Want me to retry making the zombies, and give you some links to models?
G-man does have port syndrome, the scientists' animations are a bit messed up, and I think I can make the zombies look less grotty if I use AI's meshes. I don't have anything to do anyway.

I'll bombard your PM inbox with links now, and then I'll get on the zombies.
Do you want the HL2 crab, or the AI crab?

I experienced lag here:
User posted image
(Touched up to allow you guys to see it better)
Also, I'd halve the amount of particles in the burned-out room to reduce lag. It was fine a few seconds after I exited the sci's office, I presume that's when the particles stop being made or something.
I also noticed that the scientists at the console in the intro didn't have the "gag" flag set- might want to do that.
Another thing, could you PM me a basic synopsis of the game from the intro to the actual gameplay in the mod itself? I could suggest details, ideas, maybe write some lines for someone to record, or something. I'd really like to know how you're handling the half-hour in the lab before freeman gets there.
Finally, where did you download the enhanced textures? Can I get a link?
EDIT: You have at least a couple of PM's waiting for you, hotdog. Let me know if you guys need anything done that's within my skill set.

Thanks.
How are you guys doing with this? Still going strong, I hope.

A few things I noticed replaying the demo today;
A)The last/second? level has low-def textures on some of the crates, which looks a bit bad considering they were high-def in the previous map.
B)Pathing is a bit bad on the stairwell in the map with Kate- It's sometimes hard to coax her out of it and get her in the hallway.
C)It's still fun as hell.
EDIT: :( Just got your PM, hotdog. Sad to hear it's dead.

RIP Static Friction. May your features live on in other mods. Like the music system, that was awesome.

Sure! It would be a great aid to what's left of the HL modding community to release the code for the weapons and NPCs.

Of course, I want to see that music system elsewhere. Make it your coding signature. :P

The music system would have been okay if it didn't crash like crazy :P

Hi, guys. I downloaded your mod already, and I think it must be excellent, but I still have no time to play it. But I know why this happen:
User posted image
You need to move "ch2.bmp" texture down to the end of the textures' list. This is an additive texture and all textures after it will be flat-shaded in the game. I think, you need to create special body part for it and move it down in the list of bodyparts also. I know it, because I'm working now on creating new model pack for Half-Life and use a lot of additive textures in it.
Posted 14 years ago2010-05-21 21:08:45 UTC Post #281397
That must be it. Unfortunately, after I sent the model to hotdog (it's included in the demo, though not used ingame, btw) I destroyed the source code. :\
I've never been a modeler, I just did the job because I needed something to do and happened to have milkshape handy.

Still, sad to see this mod go. Hopefully the next Shotgun Guild mod will see a full release, because they release quality stuff.

Well, source code is not really needed, when you have a decompiler.

Here's fixed version with authentic weapons also:

Animation still a bit weird, but he must look much better now. :D

Ha ha, true.
Thanks, I'll just download that now, even though I'll probably never use it.
:)
EDIT: I have to admit, the model (Originally by SysOp, I just changed the weapons to the HD ones, as I didn't have the HLSF weapons, and changed the face inside the mask) has grown on me over the...months...It's fake ragdolls have a certain charm, and the novelty of having Hazard suit grunts hasn't worn off yet.

Haven't seen any updates to this mod in a while (or did i miss them?). Hows the project going? or has it been scrapped.

It's dead.
The demo is all we're getting, although Vs might use the music system elsewhere.

Well, I'm just finished the Demo. This is very good mod, it's hard to heard that it is dead now. I played it on WON HL, using my own cg.dll, cgGL.dll, hw.dll and sw.dll (without that game has crashed everytime on start). When I left the game after some playing, I couldn't load saved game from menu (game has crashed again and again). So I had to start a new game and use quick load to get it work. Also game was ran a bit slow for me for almost the entire playing (but more slowly game worked in the main menu). In spite all of these problems I was very pleased by mapping and gameplay of this mod. If this mod has been completed yet, it would be able to become one of the best HL mods, I think. Maybe someday it still happens, or perhaps, the authors do the something like this. I'll be wait. :)

Perhaps, I can help with modelling a bit... I'm not a real modeller, but I can do some editing work.
Posted 14 years ago2010-06-04 06:48:04 UTC Post #281531
I'd love to help, but I can't bring myself to map for Goldsource anymore, and as far as modeling goes, I'm almost useless unless the mesh already exists.
But... I may be able to get myself to create prefab areas for you guys, if you let me know what kind of areas you need. I find I'm good at short bursts...

OH JEEZ, SOMETHING I CAN HELP ON!

I'd love to work on this beauty! I'm not modeller, but I can map some stuff for you. But, just to let you know... I'm not the best yet. So, you may need to help me out on the big sequences. I personally still suck major ass at doing entity work.

Oh and perhaps I could make you that splash screen? ;)

Now that I think of it, the gamestartup music reminds me of avatar now for some reason.

Black Mesa, nearby town. (I think)

Well, as long as you remember how it works. That system was pure gold, even more so than the rest of the demo/mod, which was already the Goldsource equivalent to Black Mesa as far as quality went.
