Gabe Newell has done many things for us, but what has he done personally himself?

Here's something.

lol he actually replied?

Dimbark is my new hero. I hope that's OK since hes like 5 years younger than me.

(and Gabe is awesome for actually caring)

And he's probably checking out TWHL since I gave him a link.

You forgot to ask about Half-Life 2: Episode Three. :(

Other than that, awesome! :)

^ I don't think he would even reply if Dimbark did!
I know this kind of business, I went to a BAFTA speech by the art director of the team that made Arkham asylum, and many people asked him about Arkham city and he never gave in no matter how much people tried even asking the slightest questions. He was talking about the lighting in Arkham asylum and my friend asked if he will take the same approach in City and he even retaliated to say that.

Haha were you all unaware he replies to emails? I sent him one a year ago thanking him for Hammer as it steered me towards the games industry as a career. Oh and I told him to say hi to Chet from the zombie.

He said you're welcome, asked where I was working and said he'd tell Chet :P

Really?

Then someone should mail him and demand that whoever is responsible for the Source SDK to fix that goddamn vertices-going-randomly-off-grid glitch that has been bugging users sinse the first ever public release of the Source SDK!

How can we be so sure that the person who responds is actually Gabe?

Unless you have severe mental disabilities bro, I think you'd be able to read the 'from' field.

Eh? Dimbark did something that's actually really cool? Cool.

[edit] also, question 4 is worded as if Gabe was about to die. Like, he'd read that "wait a minute, what 'DID' I like to do.... OH SHI-", and then turn around to see your face and then the screen cuts to blackness. awesome.

Surely this email would have come "From:" Gabe, not "To:"...

I smell a fake.

Haven't you guys ever had someone reply to a list of questions by entering the answers below each question in the quoted reply email? It's quite a common practice.

Can't say I have, but then, most of my emails come from members of the general public who don't really know how to operate a pc.

They all seem to have an overwhelming magnetism to Comic Sans though... shudder

Actually, yes. Penguinboy may be right, it does look like a reply header.

About 5 years ago I've been sometimes using Comic Sans even for printed essays. Nobody showed it to me. I just discovered it while playing in Word 97' as a child. I think it was designed by evil people, since it has this natural ability to captivate uniformed people.
I now hate this ugly font. It doesn't represent even child fun, for me it's just.... human degradation...
