Scientist ride an elevator? Sure, just place the scientist on the elevator floor, he will move along on the elevator just fine.
Unless he gets stuck between the elevator and something else off course... So, I don't know what you're doing but that may be a point to remind.

if worst comes to worst and you cant fix it you could make everything but the elevator move so it looks like your moving up but really every thing else is a func_train moving down.

there is a bug in hl where the monsters are not attached to the floor of moving ents
the only way arround it is to make the elevator slower, and try to keep the ride shorter
