Hi guys,

I just downloaded Source SDK through Steam, but I can't set it up. :zonked:
1.The "Edit Game Configurations" program only loads under Source Engine
2.When I setup HL2 for Source MP, Hammer does not load any map properly

Also:
If I get Hammer outside the .GCFs it didn't loaded the "default scheme file", but then it fucked up because of something...

what errors do you get when you try to load a map?
Posted 12 years ago2012-05-22 13:58:40 UTC Post #306397
None. It just loads it up(probably) and shows me this:

Ohhh, damn it!How am I supposed to upload the screenshot?
Ok, got it! Just open in new window if it does not show.

Have you tried selecting different versions of the SDK? (Source 2007, Source 2009 etc)

Valve broke hammer with a recent update.

ep2, css, tf2, portal, portal 2, l4d, l4d2, cs:go SDKs all still work fine.

Ep1 engine games aren't currently supported in the SDK, although Valve have acknowledged the problem.

Odd. Satchmo said that Valve broke hammer a while ago and my friend is still having severe problems with the editor, crashing and errors.
I don't recall specifics but I know he did state he was having problems with the map files becoming corrupted [as a result of the crashing] and not being able to load maps at times.

What engine is your friend using?

bojidar4oto appears to be trying to map for HL2 which uses the ep1 engine.

My friend is mapping for TF2. My bad, didn't notice the OP was trying to map for HL2.
As said before though, SrcSDK requires no configuration, if it doesn't work right from the get go, something is really wrong. Have you actually run HL2 before you tried using the SrcSDK?

Just tested for myself, all of these work fine under default configuration (i.e. no setup required):

Nice post Archie. Not only does it prove your point, you also got to pimp some of your projects (including one which should be under wraps :P )

Archie, is your SrcSDK having different games configured to map for?
I mean HL2,EP1,EP2...not only HL2DM under Source 2006 and TF2 under Source MP, without anything configured for Source 2007 and 2009?
Also - does the game configurations editor open under other engines not only under Source MP?

:zomg: Seems like pirated software is sometimes better than legal one...
Although Source SDK if free of charge.

Just work in ep2. It's a much better engine.

I can't configure HL2 to run under different engine... :(

You shouldn't need to configure anything. Choose Source 2009 and choose Episode 2 as seen here:

If you don't have that, double click on reset game configurations.

Do you have a Source 2009 game installed?

edit: also, stop using imageshack. I can't see a single thing in that image - it's like 150px

HL2 is on 2009 now, so that should work if you have it.

I don't have any game on Source 2009, and when I try to open the game configuration editor it says "No game configurations to run with" :gak:

[EDIT] Archie, why don't you upload your SDK somewhere?

I'll see if it works. It'll take long time to download, since I am downloading with 15 kb/s MAX!!! :zomg: :zomg:
