I haven't had a single crash yet--not even at the end of Blast Pit.

Perhaps it was my latest hardware upgrade that allows me to play the game smoothly.

I had it crash once, due to a gibbing error involving the garg in surface tension. I think the velocity was too high or it intersected with the tower I was on. Didn't repeat though, doubt it'll come up often. Only time it did, though.

Hounds are strange, the play dead trick gets me everytime. Had numeruos crashes, 3D turning on for no reason.

I was stuck at the beginning of Apprehension for a long time. I guess I forgot the original HL gameplay.

The satellite rocket launch was awesome! It's a million times better than the original HL.

I am playing "Forget About Freeman" now. It will take me more than two weeks to finish this mod.

I only get to play for an hour a day, and only on some of the days. Too bad that I can't play it when I am on-call in the hospital.

I'm prolonging the pleasure by not playing it yet, thought it's all downloaded and ready to rock.

I can't really say i haven't had the time, but i have been pretty busy lately, since we just went though are busiest part of the year at work... i'm so happy though reading the feedback, letting me know this mod is actually living up to the tremendous hype, i'm so happy =)

I have my Windows installation disks sitting at home. All I have to do before I can play is finish my assignment, and that is almost done. And since my tutorial was apparently cancelled I now have a three hour block of nothing to do. :)

I am most impressed about the modification in gameplay.

Even though the original Half-Life is definitely revolutionary and arguably one of the best games ever made, there are places in the game that can be improved.

It is apparent that the Black Mesa team considered each level carefully and made a masterpiece even better. Some of the more frustrating and annoying moments in Half-Life were changed or eliminated so the experience is more fun.

I liked it, a nice take on the original. I wasn't so happy about the combat being incredibly easy and then dying to silly things like the Source ladders...I guess that's not their problem.

Like when you had to free the scientists in Questionable Ethics. When the military came in from the skylight, I had to restart about a dozen and a half times.

I never found the combat too easy. Had to actually switch to medium difficulty from hard (I am not proud of this fact!). Human grunts were very, very accurate and vorts fire a lot quicker than HL1's. I got killed quite a few times.

Also the alien controllers' hitboxes are fucked. Their flappy heads don't actually register hits which makes my FPS training useless.

Assassins were maybe too easy, but aside from that I was very challenged.

Holy crap. Took me over a 100 tries to get through that part. I was on hard difficulty and I dare to say that the vanilla HL equivalent of that scene on the same difficulty is much easier to get through.

Yeah that was a bummer, and i crashed there w/o saving, but thank god for autosaves else i would have just quit. QE was a scary part brrrr.

Yes, that final boss fight in Questionable Ethics took me seven or eight tries, and I was playing on Normal difficulty (as I usually do for most games).

It took a combination of the Magnum and shotgun to get rid of them. I didn't realize that there were grunts on the rooftops sniping at me until I died the fourth time by bullets from apparent nowhere.

The second area where the assassins appeared in Forget About Freeman was exceedingly easy because I had the organic hornet gun. I just shot blindly in the general direction of the assassins, and the live bullets did the rest for me.

In Apprehension where the assassins first made their appearance, the player didn't have the hornet gun yet. So I used the shotgun for them.

You mean fighting a single grunt that may or may not spawn depending on what you did earlier? :P

It (BM's version) was a tough fight to be sure, but I found it was a good mid-game boss battle.

Combat is pretty unforgiving for the most part, I thought they had crap like the godlike grunts sorted out by the time of release.

On another note, Surface Tension as a whole makes up for all the God-awful gameplay. It's my favorite chapter so far, although I didn't finish Lambda Core yet.

Blowing up mines with Headcrab corpses is awesome.

There's some definite balance issues with the grunts, I agree. They spoiled Surface Tension for me a bit. Their SMGs felt more like sniper rifles, with them pinning me down from all the way across the dam.

I did play it on hard, but there's a noticeable difference between the fun challenge of fighting the aliens, and the bullet slaughter when fighting the grunts.

Future patches could even them out a bit, I hope.

Yes, the SMG from the grunts is unusually accurate, yet the same SMG carried by the player is strangely ineffective in long distance.

Realistically, a SMG is not effective beyond a 30 feet range.

I finally completed this mod this morning.

The Lambda Core felt like an appropriate conclusion. I would feel fine even if Xen was never developed, but it would rub many Half-Life purists the wrong way.

Overall, aside from the minor complaints above, this mod offers an incredible experience. It certainly accomplished what the team set out to do--to create an updated yet nostalgic gaming experience for Half-Life fans.

I just completed the tram ride. Not only that, but I was able to play it with everything bar antialiasing set to maximum.
I like it.

I shall play more on the weekend, as I have to go to bed and I have assignments to do tomorrow.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that even with only an 8800GTS I could play everything on high, and it was amazingly smooth, no slowdown.
