Sorry guys, but I won't be renewing my subscription for the server.
Not enough time to play Minecraft nowadays, plus the server's mostly been empty over the last few weeks judging from the stats.

I'll put up the world for download if anyone's interested.
It goes down on the 28th.

Had a jolly good time on it - thanks to those who've joined in over the last 6 months. :)

The problem is that with Minecraft and games like it, there's only so much you can do. Kill the Enderdragon, build an awesome construction... you're pretty much done. It's not suprising that people start playing less.

Is somebody still running a Minecraft server, or playing on some popular MC server that doesn't go insane with the structures and rules?
Btw, jungle and cats have been added!

Indeed, a big update came out today, bringing Minecraft to version 1.2. 1.2.2 actually because it already got some quick bug fixes.

Sounds like it's time for me to patch it and start playing again!

I still play. Been doing some adventure maps and they are actually quite good. I tried to make my own adventure but, of course, fell short of modding the damn game. SO much potential in stuff really if only they just tried a little harder.

But I know they are busy people.

I downloaded the new patch today, didn't bother reading the notes. I didn't notice the fact that Zombies can now break down doors. Or that they raid villages. Not fun when you take shelter in a nearby village first night of a new game because you can't be bothered to build a house, only to find zombies busting down the doors en masse :(

The moral of the story is read the damn patch notes.

We should get a server again, Mindcrack style! :badass:

Define "Mindcrack style" =P

Making all those brilliant buildings among each other was fun, admittedly. If only it was free!

Mindcrack style:

• Play with UHC (Ultra Hardcore, no auto-regen, heal only with golden apples or regen/health potions) mode on for the first couple of days.

• We can also schedule our own UHC series like Mindcrack Ultra Hardcore (TWHL Ultra Hardcore?) in which players don't automatically regenerate health even if they have a full hunger bar, and death is permanent. Members of the TWHL server will randomly spawn in a 2000x2000 world to fight each other to become the last man standing, alone or in teams.

I happen to watch the Mindcrack UHC Season 12 currently going on on the Mindcrack server, it's very tense.

And finally we can use one of those TWHL Planet maps that Rimrook made as our initial world. I think that would be fun. :)

Hey guys,

I make a server so far with 7 people, but the thing is I use hamachi and can't port forward on my iPhone :/ Stuck to tethering, but who ever has hamachi (or can and is fine with installing it) let me know, I shall make more groups and get servers hosted more often! It's been a while tbh.

A local server is obviously not feasible. I actually meant a rented server. I'm willing to get one if there are enough people to play on. I know we had a Minecraft server in the past that died due to people leaving and being mostly empty, if that happens, we just simply start a new world so everyone can start fresh again. We could even introduce some mods.

But is my hamachi idea really that awful? Cries. :'(

Yeah, I don't really like the idea. There's Ace of Spades for that, Minecraft should be for fun.

I have a question. If I already bought Minecraft, do I have to pay once again for the tablet version?

Posted 11 years ago2013-07-19 18:45:40 UTC Post #314279
Yeah the computer version and tablet versions are separate.
I think the mobile/tablet versions are around $6.00 USD

Also i liked that MC server :)
We could have a paypal donation set-up so one person doesn't have to front the full amount of cash.
I'll throw down for that.

Doing a TWHL version of Mindcrack Ultra Hardcore is just a side idea, and you DON'T HAVE to participate, there's also going to be a world of regular play (survival mode though, not creative mode).

PVP works great in Minecraft, especially when you're playing UHC. Mindcrack UHC is crazy popular on the Youtube channels of many Mindcrack server members such as BdoubleO, Docm, Kurtjmac, PauseUnPause, just to name few.

I'd join a normal server, but I'm kind of stuck on 1.4.7 because the RedPower mod hasn't been updated in ages :(

I'm liking the idea of using mods, but they also cause problems like this.

I'd say to use Computercraft, it would be pretty neat. RedPower makes a great complement to it with its bundled cables but it's out of date :/

I myself also use Railcraft, and I think it's great but it kind of makes things too complicated early in the game.

And Ghost, yeah. It's not a very good idea because a) the server's performance would heavily depend on the computer you're running it on, b) the internet connection it gets, and c) people could only play while you leave your computer running, and if you turn it off and leave, everyone would have to wait until you got back. That's generally alright for a 2- or 3-player server because it's assumed you're playing with your friends at prearranged times, but with people on the internet it gets more complicated.

The appeal of Minecraft is never perpetual, unfortunately. I suppose mods and such could prolong the life of such a server.

I've had a crack at UHC a couple of times myself. I play too recklessly (in ALL games, not just Minecraft), so I'm not very good. Not that I didn't enjoy it!

I also took a look at the Build To Win mod, seems like it could be bunch of fun. Hasn't yet been updated to the most recent Minecraft yet, though...? So I haven't tried it yet.

I think a big issue will be organisation. Yes, there'd be a server there, but then there'd have to be times scheduled for events that cater for global timezones. Also a way to see exactly what mods (if any) are currently running.

What's the cost of a decent MC server?

0.0 I am so in on the MC server idea.

Could do like every fortnight-month you change mods and then for a weekend there can be like a group events/activity/contests or something before the change. Like you could do a month of UHC then to celebrate the change over play like a couple games for Build To Win. :D And if we run out of mods we could do a vote on which mod was the most popular do it for another month or two, then vote for another one.
I think a big issue will be organisation. Yes, there'd be a server there, but then there'd have to be times scheduled for events that cater for global timezones.
Pth, seen that, done that, easy that. :P No doubt other people have also organised global internet events too. X)

I noted my buddy to help push the Build to Win update.

We decided that when the team succeeds in a build, they get a ton of money to spend at a shop that has all of the items.

Also, do check out the Minecraft Comes Alive mod. Its lulzy.

Ok, there are a bunch of people here willing to play. Now who's going to rent a server? Me?

And Rimrook, will you create a MC world from that TWHL Planet map, create a new one or play with a random seed?
Posted 11 years ago2013-07-20 12:04:39 UTC Post #314289
I wasn't saying I don't like the mod you were talking about, but I'm more of a casual player. And I don't have much time on my hands anymore, I would have entered the server only now and then, for fun, not to be stressed I don't have lots of resources to compete with others.

Could always not use mods, and have like a death count or something and be like who ever gets the less deaths in a month get a pot plant. XD
And/or play normally during the week and then on a couple weekends add a mod and hold a couple contests and such.
Posted 11 years ago2013-07-20 15:00:21 UTC Post #314291
But the problem is that when you remove mods, things don't work anymore, items will disappear and blocks will stop working.
Maybe we should go with vanilla first.
Posted 11 years ago2013-07-20 15:02:26 UTC Post #314292
Why don't we just stick to a clean MC? Cant you guys just go to your .minecraft folder, back the mincraft.jar, rename it to minecraft_forge/etc or something? That's what I do all the time, and maps that use mods, I never open again. UNTIL I do reactivate mods.

We could do that. With the new Minecraft Launcher you can create seperate Minecraft versions, with mods included. It's just a matter of selecting the one you want to play with when you want to connect to the server.

Server is whitelisted, so you need to give me your MC username (through PM) to be able to connect.
Right now the server is vanilla, so no mods.
It has 16 slots available and is located in the Netherlands so hopefully it won't be too laggy for you US of A'ers. :)

Enjoy!

Caves now, and everything else. This is the render from the editor. It has trees and stuff, they don't show up in the editor because the game needs to populate it.
