So about 1.5 miles down the road they just converted a giant warehouse space into an indoor arena, so I felt the time was right to finally give Airsoft a try.

Anyone else into this? If so, what kind of gun(AEG, green gas, compressed air, etc) and what weight BBs do you use? Do you carry a secondary? where do you play? etc etc.

This week I ordered an Entry-level AEG, extra mags, mask, .20g BBs, facemask, and a rubber combat knife(lol). Going to play this weekend with some friends, can't wait :)

If only there was such an establishment anywhere near me; always wanted to do it, but not driving 300 km for it. All i hear when it comes to sports is football here, football there... Got sick of it long ago.

I have an AEG, a CO2 pistol and a (broken) spring sniper rifle. There used to be an airsoft club at my uni, although they closed down a few years ago. Since then my airsoft stuff has been gathering dust. I used to use the sniper rifle all the time for plinking before I broke it by replacing the spring with one it wasn't rated for. The time needed to charge the batteries for the AEG, and the expense of CO2 cartridges for the pistol mean I only ever really used them for actual airsoft games.
I've been debating replacing the sniper rifle, but for now it's not worth the cost.

If you want to get into it for cheap with a relatively inexpensive high fps gun although it isn't automatic, this gun is very accurate and puts a sting when hit with it.

Between myself and some friends we've had numerous Tokyo Marui Fully auto Battery powered guns. With these guns a chargeable battery rotates a motor that draws back a spring to shoot the hard white ABS plastic bb's. They work really well and hold up for a long time but are around 300 dollars from what I remember. I still own my sg552 which has pretty high fps.

Here's a link for the spring loaded mp5 I was talking about. I highly recommend you find it somewhere online and order it. Although you won't be as advantageous as the other guys, this gun is friggin sweet for the price.

Stay away from spring loaded pistols, they ALWAYS BREAK! The only ones I've had that don't are the revolver type models but unless you can find a high fps one they aren't worth even carrying. Just get a few extra magazines for the mp5 or I think they sell a high capacity barrel magazine for the mp5 somewhere.

With a side arm, the co2 powered ones is probably the way to go.

Thank you for the tips Zeeba! :)

That mp5 is pretty bad ass for the money, and the placement of the cocking handle seems to allow for a decent rate of fire.. Thanks for the tip on spring-loaded pistols too, will stay away :aghast:

Post some pics of your SG552 if you have some! Also btw, what weight BBs do you typically use?

Weps:

4 M4A1s
2 Tokyo Marui 1911s (WWII)
2 Toyko Marui Type 98 (1 with iron sites, 1 with a scope)
1 MP5K
1 MP5 Navy
1 Spring loaded .45 cal pistol (IDK which weapon it is, it's not a Colt, that's for sure)

Yeah, not much of a variety... I wanted to get a Barrett 50 cal but didn't get it on time... Oh well. Took my CoD bragging friends Airsofting, shot the living shit out of them, proved them all wrong and made them go home with marks.

BBs? These are I... WE use:

Cheers CT. Nice to see you getting into this. ;D Don't get too addicted and start purchasing Thermal Scops, Thermal optics and nightvision goggles and such; I'm not that addicted... YET

I'll post pics soon, got a wedding in the morning to usher.

I'm not sure what weight BB's but I remember the yellow and blue ones are crappy because they are light and you cannot reuse them because they chip/warp easily. The white ABS one's we used worked well but I have no idea what weight they were. I'm not even sure you can use them with the mp5 though, my brother and cousin both owned a few of the mp5's. They might be a little too big for it.

Cheers Ghost, that is quite an impressive collection you have there! :o

Are your m4s all AEG, or do you have some gas powered stuff? the gas blowback guns REALLY cool, but not sure if I'd spend the $ just yet.

I want to get a 1911 as a secondary too, but will probably go co2/ggas instead of a springer. Maybe a red-dot sight for the m4 as well. Eventually I will probably buy BDUs and a combat harness of some sort..

Zeeba
Afaik, all the BBs are the same size--6mm--, but the weights range from .12 through .25, and up. From what I understand the heavier BBs lower your fps but give you more accuracy. Most People I've asked use .20, but other's I've talked to use .25g and even .32g BBs, so I guess it depends on your gun and personal preference?

All M4's are AEGS.
The Colts are Gas Blow backs though. ^^

I've got a camel back, BDU trousers, Combat boots, gloves, Goggles, Skull mask and a hoodie, and my Oakley Field Gear bag which I use for school instead..

It's not that clear, but you get the idea. I'm not wearing a bag, or my full face mask, which I sprayed the SS logo onto...

My DBoys M4 CQB-R had multiple issues out of the box, so unfortunately I had to RMA it back to the vendor yesterday ='(

Thinking about ordering a G&G CM16 Raider instead?...

My friend Mark just bought an Upgraded G&G CM16 300 BOT, and let me tell you the performance and construction on that gun are impeccable. I didn't like the keymod rail at first, but it's really growing on me.

Yeah dude, those gas blowback pistols are sick... I'm saving up $100 specifically for a some version of the 1911.. :)

After-Action Report
Played airsoft for the first time, and was it ever was a blast!

I was lucky to have a great group of 18-20 people playing in a indoor 20,000-square-foot arena, 9-10pm(yeah I got there late), playing various gamemodes including TDM and VIP, and others.

The bullets hurt for CQB, but at distance it's not bad at all. They have indoor and outdoor areas, pistol-only inside buildings. Only semi-automatic fire mode is allowed.

I used my friend's 300 BOT G&G M4 and no pistol. Each time you are hit you yell HIT! and walk back to your respawn to recharge for most games.

My only real complaints for the night were not having a hydration pack or canteen--A MUST--, and my current mask makes looking down my gun sights almost impossible; I'll get a red-dot sight and/or a different mask definitely, for easier aiming.

Anyhow it was REALLY fun, going again tomorrow for the full 4-hour session :)

Hell yeah Zeeba those are sweet. Pretty cool you can mount them right to your gun, making for some pretty fun youtube videos :D

Arsenal Update
My friend Mark decided Airsoft isn't for him, and sold me his G&G CM16 300 BOT, Battery, Smart Charger, and 5000 hi-quality .25 BBs for half price!

Literally a day later the RMA for the CQB-R M4 was approved, and I just ordered instead:
