LOL! For Money! you have to be joking. If you enter here, you win a trophy. MApping is not for money, it is a hobby.

i agree there should be an aim. i mean it would be really kewl if you had to pay like ?2 ($3.67 USD) to enter the contest and the winning mapper takes all.

this would also boost the quality of work produced for the contests becouse people would have somting better to aim for... although it would suck if there was only 5 entrys like last time... lol, but imagin if people started rushing to enter, imagin if even 100 people entered the compo, that would mean a prize fund of ?200 ($367 USD) an no i dont think people would even mind if the site tuck 20% or such of the total prize fund, after all its his site and he does pay for it.

It's a nice idea but sending money across the world can be tricky. Especially small amounts like 5 dollar.

Attractive idea though... :)

?2.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds

$5.35 AUD
Australia Dollars

so for you assuming there was a 100 entrys and it cost ?2 to enter ($5.35 for you) there would be a total prize fund of $535 (wow your currency is worth shit all... lol)

if you want any other currency calcs go here: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

have you heard of Paypal, i have it on my site for donations and you can set it up to be a set amount, like the amount to enter and then maybe have it so you get an e-mail giving you a code that allows you to enter the compotition or somthing.

Yes, I know. So sending it wouldn't really prove the biggest problem I see now.

What I do remember from Chatbear's donation advertisements though, is that a lot of users weren't capable of sending money over the internet, due to their age or other reasons. I donated only because a Dutch friend of me was able to do so so I could send him the money to donate for me.
As far as I know, there are quite a lot of young mappers, and parents don't always trust sending money over the internet.

Just my thoughts about it. Maybe it'll work and that would be great... :)

...yea right, and the only amount of money you are likely to win would be a trip to the nearest wishing fountain!

im actally considing setting this up on a site of my own now... is there anybody here who would actally enter the compos if such a paypal system was set up and you could win money...

cos what im thinking is that if enough people would be willing to do it then you could have two compotitions a main one with a prize fund and a second one were you dont have to pay but it would be judged seperatley, maybe even with the same theme. (or does that seem to disciminative)...

orrrr maybe you can pay to enter but you dont have to but the money goes to the best mapper who paid... like this

1st Place - Mr A. - None Payer < so only wins a prothy
2nd Place - Mr b. - None Payer < again only wins a prothy
3rd Place - Mr C. - Payer < wins the money.

I see scam here.

hmmm i think people would be a bit hesitant to give money to a site thats not very well established.

Also, once you start offering money you'll attract professional mappers. Then all us low-life mappers wouldnt have a chance.

At the other hand, professional maps can be very good for your personal learning curve... :)

Nobody will trust a site that does not have a top level domain - that's life i guess....
