Yes, It's difficult to figure out the problem without details.

ok i mean on your graph, that camera that you drag and its like blue and red. all of a sudden it disapears on a lot of my maps and i cant ever get it back so when i go into 3d mode it always starts like upside down and over the map.

I know what you mean, it doesn't always show up in Hammer for me. No problem really, I navigate by left- and right-clicking in the 3D viewport.

You can simply create a new camera in the 2d window by holding SHIFT and dragging your mouse.

I navigate through the 3d by using the w,a,s,d buttons. To turn, I hold the space bar, and them move the mouse.

I never tried shift+mouse. Just spacebar+mouse and w,a,s,d buttons. Its great how you can zoom around using the same buttons you do to play the game.

I use the arrows....it's better than the numpad, which I had to use when I mapped for Red Faction in it's heyday.

if you press z while your cursor is over the camera screen you can fly around with the wasd keys and turn with your mouse, making it great for "playing" through your map like you were testing it in Hl or CS.

I usually use the two mousebuttons to navigate through 3d.
It is the most intuitive and the fastest way to do that. You don't have to touch the keyborad at any time.

I use my mouse buttons to navigate in UnrealEd, it takes a little getting used to but it does work great when you get the hang of it.
