I think it would be a good idea to incorporate a user marks system rather like snarkpit's SnarkMarks system. Where you get points for posting a map, and points for getting positive map votes. Then, points for winning a compo, or posting a tutorial. Also, in the GMF forum, make it like their one where you have to search the tutorials/example maps/forums before posting. That would prevent people going on about things they easily could have solved by searching.
m0p m0pIllogical.

Nah.. its a bit too simular to the snarkpit

Perhaps something different?
Posted 20 years ago2004-06-26 09:05:09 UTC Post #36572
Lets make it so everyone gets a banana for good things simular to what MOPX said, then i wont complain about having no nanners...

Players that serve the community well earn respect. Something that isn't so easy to capture with a points system. I think it's ok the way it is now, no points system necessary.

how about when someone posts a problem and you give a helpful reply the poster of the thread has the choice to award them with points depending on how helpful the reply was?
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-01 15:12:38 UTC Post #38042
How about just getting on with it instead of figuring out ways of saying "i Pwn j00! i've more points/bananas/cookies/whatever than you"

If i had my way there would be no statistics of any sort :

people would make fun of other people for not having a bunch of points like him/her. hence the hate.

Well, this happens even without points.
They laugh at others for not having a certain level of knowledge.

It'd be good for TWHL to have a domain name...

Maybe we should all club together... we could prolly get one if we donate, like, 50p/year each.

That's a serious suggestion, by the way.

how about we simply make a collective map rating number for everyone.
we'll just make it so you can't double-vote or vote for yourself and change it to 10 stars. then all the maps ratings will be averaged and put in your profile. it would be so much easier and then new mappers that are really friggin good with one map can still out-do the idiot who posts a million fy and aim maps for counter-strike for 4 years straight.

guys, when you use your brains, don't use so much of them
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-05 15:00:03 UTC Post #38971
and i do believe if you win a compo you get a trophy anyways
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-05 15:03:34 UTC Post #38974
and i would much rather have a trophy anyways, rather than dumping all that hard work into a collective pot. then i could say, "look at this @#$%er right here. that's two weeks of half-life pwnage."

it'd be kinda bad if somebody who really sucked in compos pumped out a few counter-strike maps and was a more honored mapper than one who kicked the @#$ out of everyone in a compo.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-05 15:03:37 UTC Post #38975
i can barely read that

Rank 1: noob
Rank 2: learner
Rank 3: Mapper
Rank 4: Good Mapper
Rank 5: Eleet Mapper
Rank 6: Veteran Mapper
Rank 7:Mapping GOD
Moderators: thread cutterz
admin: I AM GOD
Banned: Spammer

i got them all right, right?
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-05 15:04:50 UTC Post #38976
basically. that's the other thing. stay away from the damn leet speak, please. it's a half-life mapping site.
