I cant run any mods! I've got the Half Life generation ultimate edition with Counter Strike and Opposing Force - I've installed Half Life, everything works, but when I try to play any mod, it loads up and just before the mod actually plays, an error comes up saying "cant open valve/fonts.wad" - I searched my entire HD for this file and it's just not there. It's not even on the CD, and reinstalling didnt make it appear either.

What's up?!

Odd. Make sure you have the latest patches, or get Steam.

I had the exact same problem! Get someone to send you Fonts.wad, it's not that big.

As much as you hate Steam, you'll have to switch over sometime to use multiplay and get HL2 updates. Valve and Sierra (which is closing :( .) are phasing out the WON servers as summer ends.

I'd send you the file right now, but its 4:35 AM where I am and I really need to get to bed or im gonna fall asleep on my keyboard again. (And it hurts!)

The file is relatively small, so if you don't have it in the morning, I'll send it to you.

Thanks! Before you go - Can you explain to me how exactly I'm meant to carry on using Worldcraft to make and play my own maps/mods when I have Steam? There's no "custom game" item in the HL menu anymore, and all the HL files get cached into Steams own filetypes... how are you supposed to edit/make new files/folders to use mods/maps with!?

Extractor: use GCFScape.

Mod directories placed in SteamAppsyourem@ilhalf-life featuring the standard liblist.gam will show up under "third-party games" on the Steam Games menu.

If you want to run custom maps, and such, make a /valve folder in half-life, then you can create /maps, /models, /sound, etc. as it doesn't create one automatically.
