Is there any way to see your model in your map before compile?

You sure can. You need a newer version of Hammer though, the 3.5 beta build. Make sure you have Hammer 3.4, then visit:

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?go=hammer_beta

You'll need to unPAK/unGCF your model files to your valvemodels dir and then get a new FGD that has special tags to allow model viewing in-editor.

Thanks, I'm using the official NS FGD, I think I saw a custom one floating around somewhere, I will try to get my paws on that one. :)

The official NS FGD included with the latest version has model support enabled, afaik. That, or I have a custom version myself :) .

All you need to do is add the Studio references to the FGD you have.
There is more information on this in the Halflife.fdg April 03 3.1.0.0
ie:
studio("models/xxxxxx.mdl") to the base class of the entity to display the model.
Not the easiest way to get things done, but if you can't find the FGD it might help...

It's detailed on the VERC on the Hammer 3.5b page.

Ahh, sorry, I figured it out. I'm afraid I posted on a number of forums about this. I was trying to use a model in the "valve" directory. I thought this was possible, apparrently it isn't. Anyway, when I moved the model from the "valve" directory to the NS models directory, all was well. I am using a custom fgd now, however, with beta NS 3.0, would I be better off to use the fgd included with the beta?
