Hey everyone. Tell me what your favorite part of HL was. My favorite parts were Office Complex, We've Got Hostiles, Blast Pit, Powerup, and On-a-rail. Particularly Office Complex and We've got Hostiles. I liked the fifties, cold war feeling. I also think that the best half of the game is the part with the marines. I didn't really like fighting aliens or exploring the Xen world as much as I did trying to escape from marines.
Anyway, tell me what you all think!

And you just listed half of the whole game! I like more 'Questionable Ethics' and 'Surface Tension'. I'm enjoying open spaces much more than these bunker-like labs.

And, btw, do a check before you start a new thread - this one was asked atleast once in the past

Most threads are a variation of another older one. I'm also sure that every possible beginners question has been asked a thousand times in General mapping. The important thing is that I like the office complex.

HALF-LIFE
all of the xen planet levels,
the intro, when your on the tram, that was a couple levels.
Opposing Force:
The Last Battle
Blue Shift:
Intro
Uplink:
near the end, when you gotta battle the garg.

Uplink is the demo of half-life, but it has tottaly new levels.

Uplink = a part of the game that never really fit, in VALVe's opinion, so they made it a demo! Put c3a1 in the filter box with halflife.wad loaded and you'll see what I mean.

I personally have an immense liking for Surface Tension. Though Blast Pit and Questionable Ethics are close runners-up.

i thought they should've just taken the first couple of levels from the game to make the demo.

Because there isn't action in the first few levels, until the resonance cascade, and then it spoils the story. With that c3a1 level, it has a mix of action and puzzle solving and is a goo' demonstration of the game.

When you say the filter box, do you mean the console, rabidmonkey?

No, I mean the Hammer texture browser's filter box.

You could also open halflife.wad in Wally and type c3a1 in the filter box.

Oh hey did you know that if you type impulse 107 in the console it'll give the name of whatever texture your crossairs pointed on? Pretty useful.

can't u put sv_cheats 1 and noclip on and notarget on, then float around while typing "give monster_human_grunt"? i used to have it bind before i knew u could map =). when i firt heard of mapping i thought it would be cool to build "on the rail" exept with more aleins and stuff =)... didn't turn out that way though =(

Then something's wrong - you may have pointed at a func_illusionary or the void, which will give you incorrect texture displays. It appears on the console, too, not on the screen.
