Or just start a game a type map or changelevel then the map name (without .bsp)

map names can't have spaces ni the first place can they? Well if they could you could still do something like changelevel "i am awesome" that works. Quotes around stuff in the console allow things like spaces.

umm
just take the map that has a name like fy_whatever, cs_whatever, de_watever
anything like that no spaces
then put it in ur c:/Program files/steam/steamaaps/you@whatever.com/counter-strike/cstrike/maps
whew
and then just open up counterstrike
press new game
and select athat map

i don't think there is a new game's tab. just enter the console in the main menu (yes u can do that)

Uhm, what?

If you create a new game/server in CS, you can select from a list of the maps you have installed in your maps dir.

If you run the console and "map mapname" then it starts a local server with the map.
