hey all again,

I have a problem with the sound im trying to make it i pull the lever (button) and the sound activates then the leaver goes back when the sound ends

heres what i have tried
making the button target the sound with sound set on certain flags to what i read of a site on the info on it
using my sound i made it doesn't play
using a sound already made it plays then doesn't stop playing

i then found a prefab that had a hair drier with sound it works fine so i copyed the stuff on that and i edited the names to match but then it just doesn't play at all can someone give me a little example or tell me which objects i need.

Also what is the settings needed for the sound files to work with half life and whats a good free program to use for making the sound files

Thanks
Matt

Goldwave is a great program, espicially for converting audio files to the correct format. As for your problem, I'd suggest making sure your files are the correct format. As for the format, you'll have to wait till someone posts em, cos I can't remember them off the top of my head.

you can set the time before a door returns, so use a door as teh lever, have it trigger a multi_manager which triggers the sound and the purpose of the lever.
and just play around till you have the timing right.

all sounds have to be in .wav format, and they have to be "somehwere" in mod name/mod directory/sounds
it could be in a folder called yourmap_sound, or whatever.
but the path must match the one in hammer, browse to teh sound as opposed to typing it in.

make sure the sound has it's flags set to Start Silent so that it can be triggered by the multi.

Sound files must be 22 040 Hz, 8bit and mono
Info 'borrowed' from this VERC tutorial.

Head over to teh amx website.
I can also help but be prepared for sporadic advice as I am currently in over my head with over things.

I have experience with managing and setting up, but no amx coding experience.
