...to join the #twhl chatroom if you haven't already.

Without beginners mappers coming in to ask questions, the channel isn't being used to its full potential.
It's fun, i'ts free, it's IRC!

It couldnt be simpler to join:
Get an IRC client: The most popular one is mIRC (download it from www.mirc.com); some alternatives are Visual IRC and IceChat.

Join the Chatbear server: Add a new server called "irc.chatbear.com"
Join the channel: If you're using mIRC, in the status window type "/join #twhl"

The rest is easy!

Things you are missing out on by not joining:
Instant Mapping help from our resident know-it-alls!
General banter with regulars
Marvin's exciting WWII stories
Slapping Marvin
Mostly-uninformed arguing about browser superiority

Even the Opera Internet Browser has IRC incorporated into it. Useful for beginners.

Be patient on IRC. There are usually a few people who will help. Oh, and remember to observe the topic. There's usually a nice suggestion in there concering behaviour. :)

Enjoy!

no, its as free as the air you breathe, my friend!
mirc is shareware though, so after 30 days it nags you to buy it.

but no one forces you to buy it, the "continue" button gets clickable after some seconds. Khaled's playing tricks with us :)

I highly recommend Visual IRC, it's free and easily-configured for newbies to IRC as well as regulars. Use it m'self.

People you should ignore if they tell you to type anything:

m0pX a.k.a. complete noob
jaardsi
ZombieLoffe

In fact, no, don't type anything anybody tells you to. Take people's advice on mapping, but apart from that, don't! :

Oh, and don't let m0p's 'surly' manner worry ya.

yeah, just ignore m0p. btw, I recommend IceChat

its prett noob friendly, but its not bad for experienced users. the only downside is that scripting is pretty hard, as its done in vb. but scripting is pretty unnecassery fr irc.

I can verify that :|

Not always bad though, and the spam always clears mysteriously (/kick) whenever someone has a proper question.

Noticed how everyone who posted in this thread is a regular in IRC? Except [DDHLP-C]copper.

What does that tell you? No one else is going to come in, since they're not even reading this thread. Except [DDHLP-C]copper. :D
