I'm once again making a level. I've put off my major ideas untill HL2 comes out.

I'm trying to utelize a few sounds in my levels (dropping bodies, screams, etc.)

Something isn't working. here is the fun part.

I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I set up my levels but the sound wont play when i hit the trigger.

could somebody be so kind as to either explain it to me in detail or direct me to a place that will help?

Are your sounds mono, 11 or 22 KHz and 8 or 16 bits?

I said I would update, and here I am.

I have suceeded. Not in the way I wanted though. I managed to get a scientist scream 'NO!' when I hit a certain trigger, but the entire point to my expadition was to learn how to use the 'ambiant generic' entity. I still have no clue how to use it.

I have checked to tutorials and i don't think it is in there. Could somebody direct me to a place that can help me?

Thanks.

An ambient_generic just uses a .wav file. These .wav files must be mono, 8 or 16-bits and 11 or 22 KHz. All .wav files that came with Half-Life can be used without worrying about their format, it's just when you create your own that you'll have to mind this.

And this could help you somewhat:
http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=ambient_generic

Be sure to fill in the pathname and filename correctly. Also check the volume and initial volume of your ambient_generic.

Thanks.

If I can get this to work, I may just build a story and present this.
