I want to have a func_tank that shoots you when you are in its direct line of fire, or somewhere in the general area of its line of fire. I know I could use the "direct only" flag. Anyway it won't shot me when Im in the game. Will the gun work if there is no origin brush ni it because i don't want this thing rotating.

You have to give it an origin brush... the rotating is controlled in the gun's properties. Look up on that entity in some entity guides to find out what and how.

The Direct Only flag means the gun won't continue firing when you're out of sight (e.g. behind a wall or something).

without the origin brush, the game will treat the turret like any other building...

No, it'll set the turret's origin to 0, 0, 0 at the map's center. Any rotating entity without an origin treats the world's center as it's origin.

Oh, I assumed it would set its origin to the center of the brush by default. Well that could be why its not working. Thanks.

Pitch: range, rate and tolerance to 0
Yaw: Range rate and tolerance to 0

Should beef the jerky if you know what I mean.
