how can I select a single surface of a brush instead of the whole thing, Im trying to apply a texture to a wall but it keeps applying it to the whole brush.

Change the texture app tool to 'Lift + Select'. Then, right-click the surface to apply the texture.

Press shift+a then the Face Edit Sheet pops up. Now, in the 3D view U can select the surface!
