HL1 had a vast majority of male characters (Gina from the training map holograms is in fact the only female character in the original HL1) so it should be the other way around

aww come on! half-life2 was made for a reason! its waaay better than half-life1 at all aspects of game enhancements.

But without HL1, there would be no HL2. Think about that!

Come to think of it - you can't contrast HL1 and HL2. Each has and had its time.

Seeing a few posts about female characters before thi leads me to post this post. I am assuming you are talking about having hot girls star in video games. Half Life 2 was good to not star a bunch of slutty looking chicks in it. I mean sure, its nice to see stars like that, but it screws up what people think about what a woman should act like.

Note: I am not a femenist or any crazy crap like that. I'm just supporting a clause.

I think the problem is inside each person's head. Some people that played CS a lot, have ended up shooting their classmates in real life... could you blame that on the game?? no way
I've see a lot of videogames with female characters and I dont expect real women to climb high ledges and carry uzis like Lara Croft
HL2 doesnt need hot chicks in it because the game is good and aims towards a certain "realism". The counter-example would be the Dead or Alive series, that features

a bunch of slutty looking chicks

as one of the games main interests.
And remember, it's all about how people react. I dont think Aida from Unreal II was a 'hot chick'. She was just a pretty arrangement of pixels and vertices in a computer file

@m0p: I'd say the lack of OpenGL is your main problem.

hmmm, Half-Life 1 was quite strange. But it gets kudos for being the first HL game, and everyone enjoys HL multiplayer, and there were some really great classic maps. I can think of some weak points in it's SP

Half-life 2. Although of course it is much newer, it is unlike any other game that has been released. Physics allow even the npcs to interact with the enviornment. I always think it is awesome how in cinematic sequences npcs can lift up objects and toss them around etc... Its also a great engine. The SP is in my opinion better than that of half-life 1. The multiplayer for half-life 2 is no better than half-life 1 except for the updated graphics and the new physics it uses

So overall I am saying HL2, but you can never say HL wasn't great because it started this all

hmmm hl 1 was really a better game because it was hard i got to xen but never made it to the boss and i was being lazy.

hl2 well is a great game and all but when the graphics become this great i tend to get head aches and get bored of the game.

and hl2 was short real short i beat it in 3 days. 2-3 hours a day half life on the other hand took me a couple of weeks.

and hl2 WAY TO EASY GAMEPLAY nothing proved a challenge in that game.

hl2's good side is that there soo many things to fool around with for hours and i love the gravity gun it helps too.

the reason why hl2 looses badly is half life plus steam=crap and that shouldent have happend.

Its fine. Dont hate steam.

And your right, HL2 graphics does make it boring.

Graphics are worthless when the game itself is shit, but when the game is amazing, there's nothing wrong with having orgasmic graphics.
