In anticipation to the update coming any day, here's this thread.

I have a feeling the update will be tomorrow, if not Monday. With the 33% off of TF2, and the Meet the Scout coming out today, it's getting us ready for something.

As for Meet the Scout. Not the best of the Meet the Team series, but it was pretty good.
They finally ended the stupid debate on where he's from (Boston), which was obvious anyways.

So, what're you guy's speculations on the new update anyways?

I could really care less about the Medic's new weapons, I just want the new map.

It's being marketed individually at the end of the month (29th?). My money's on all of this advertising the retail release of the game, not the updates.

The overcharger was given the shaft, that's all I know for certain.
Does anyone else think the medic needs a sort of area-healing weapon?

I wish there was a medic gun that would heal at an angle, but would either go slower, or maybe not have an uber / uber same speed as normal.

I agree, though.

EDIT: That's what I remembered! Habboi, what they took out was the Overcharger, not the weapons all together. They couldn't find a way to balance the overcharger so they dropped it.

Yeah that was it. After reading the articles I like the idea of engineer improvements and the medic weapons sound really useful such as the saw which fills up a quarter of your UBER per hit.

OMG engi improvements no! They are so easy to use and you can get lots of points without really doing anything. Spy job is too hard at the moment, and is the 2nd class less played so if engis get improvements nobody would play as spy.

I think Pyro needs some improvement because it's supposed to be the close range king, but that's not true.

Spike you clearly haven't seen me and Moocow play as Pyro double :> It owns. But they did mention somewhere about making it so you get points for every so many seconds that an enemy is set alight.

Spy job is too hard at the moment
Been playing spy almost exclusively since the beta, clocking 46 hours on the class(with medic in second at 20something). Playing spy, I usually get to the top of the scoreboard with relative ease. You just have to remeber that the spy isn't a table-turning class, its purpose is to pick off the dangerous people so that the rest of your team's job is easier. It's not too hard, you're probably just playing the class wrong.

But this is the kind of discussion that breaks out every day on the Steam forums, so bleh :|
Edit: Sniper and spy play the same role.

I usually get to the top of the scoreboard with relative ease.
Same to me, I've got more +50 hours with it, and is my main class. I know it's easy to get high scores, but very easy to be killed too.Is so frustating seeing engineers just camping and killing you with 1 wrench hit. That's why I call it a hard job, you're always rounded by enemies who are random shooting everyone on their team.

And I still think Pyro needs some help. It's my 2nd main class and it's so frustating when you burn more than 6 enemies and you don't get any points. Also when you're burning a Heavy at 20 cm for 5 seconds without killing him, where's the close range king? Getting points for burning enemies some seconds seems a good idea.

BTW which is Madcow pyro point record?

Stab first, then sap. Run in circles to avoid being in front of the gun if you have to. And leave multiple sentries to demomen, they're slower at it, but more reliable.

hahaha yeah I knew that, but as opposed to you, I always sap multiple sentries because incompetent team are afraid of them. I just spam sappers on all buildings and engineers have too much work to repair them all, so I can easily take down 2 sentries and 3 dispensers.

Cloaking always works too... Disguise, stab, cloak, sap. No damage done... unless there are more engi's or sentrys around...

I don't usually play with pyro unless I'm playing with mooboi.

Mostly I play as the spy, where my record is 27, with 13 backstabs IAR >:>

My pyro record is 15, not sure how I got it. Probably an uber or 2.

All's I play is Dustbowl, so I'm hoping Goldrush will rake it's place or just give me another awesome map.

My Pyro record is 39, yeah, belive it or not, I did it without cheating on a full 32 server, dustbowl 2nd stage as RED. 2 medics I didn't know started ubering me and I gave good results, so they were ubering me all the time. The BLU spawn tunel is perfect to burn them all.

Got a new record of 12 headshots today. At the last 3, my ping shot up to 200 because of my brother being a dick, but I managed to get 2 more, breaking the old record by 3.

I can't afford TF2 on PC (or anything else really), and anyway I would have to sneak into my older brothers room and risk a beating to play it online with a decent internet connection.

Well, that 'anyday' was a few minutes ago.

I'm downloading it tonight and playing tomorrow.

Just looking through some of the updates, I already see I should have 1 of them (7k healing in one life), and that I already have 830,000 of the million needed for the achievement.

Played the updated version for a few mins.
It appears as if the new unlocksystem or whatever it is is very buggy because there were people who somehow exploited the system to get an advantage in the game, blah blah I didn't really get it but everybody was complaining on the whole server.
Goldrush seems like fun, new achivements seems like a good way to attract people to the medic class, and the unlock system.. well I don't know because I haven't really seen any unlocks yet and I have no idea how it works.

There was a dev command to activate them, I think it's fixed now. Thing I'm starting to hate is all noob medics trying to get the archivements and doing nothing for the team

Kind of ridiculous right now.

Goldrush is pretty good. Getting lost in the beginning is normal, though, lol.

That's a shame.
I guess they pumped it out "AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE" since they were loosing players, including myself.

After playing gold rush for more than several hours, I have a very mini review:

+ Loooove the idea. It's like point capping except it's a lot hard to reset the point. This brings up the idea of needing a GREAT defense, which is always fun to do.
+ Like the idea of having separate corridors to bi-pass choke points. Leads to some very interesting game play when the defending team forgets about the ways around and they all get slaughtered.
+ Has a lot of places for offensive sentries, which is always a cool idea.
+ The ending is down right epic.

Time for the downfalls:
  • The mapping comes off to me as very amateur. It looks good, but the layout is very confusing, almost as if a bad mapper made it.
  • On top of strange lay outs and odd looks, the map has a bunch of little things you can get caught on. There's nothing more frustrating then getting stuck on something sticking out of the wall while getting shot at, and end up dying.
  • Very tight. Many tight spaces tends to get annoying.
Another note:
  • New medic achievements are kind of stupid, but whatever. I wish they were for fun, and not needed to unlock the new weapons.
  • The new weapons have very little use for me. I love playing medic, so it's not a bias, but they just seem useless for the most part. The only real exception is the Critzkrieg. Love that gun.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm out of rants.
