How do you like the new Steam interface?

What happened to Hammer?

It's cool and everything, but I hate not having a small mode for the Tools or Media tab.
Sort of a pain in the ass if you want to launch the Source SDK. That massive full interface is just too big.

Valve have made a heap of changes to this UI since first rolling out the beta. All the major things people have complained about, too. The original lack of a mini-mode, ugly gradients and so forth.

If enough people complain (seems likely), I think we'll get the same mini-mode for tools and media. It also needs a button on the main interface for switching modes, I miss that.

I like this UI though, much more than the last. Though I am using a custom skin that neatens a lot of the interface up.

I like the new steam a lot more than the old one. Really improves the interface and looks how a 2010 interface should look.
I haven't even tried to start the Source SDK yet, are there modifications there too?

Strider, where do you get custom skins from?

Look around these boards, some people have been working on skins since the beta.

I've been using this one for a month or so now, it's not much, but it feels more complete.

Hey, Soup and anyone else having trouble with the SDK- Just add it to your favorites- it'll stay at the top of the page at all times, making it easier to find.
I find the lack of a launch button on the tools tab is a bit inconvenient.
And it seems slow at times.
But... It does look nice, and I'm sure the Steam dev team are working around the clock to improve it now.
EDIT: And it doesn't list developer names, which may be a bad idea somewhere down the road.

Yeah, it's nice, but I'm gonna miss my greyscale skin.

Well that's odd, I didn't have any problems starting the SDK, and it's the same old style.
