No by college I mean Art College, part of the University. But you know what pisses me off, the fact that it calls itself an Art College. Man, we havent had one piece of GOOD work since I started about 3 years ago! All you seem to have to do in art college is (now this'll put you off) do loads off crappy essays (4000 words on average) on complete bollocks that you cannot be arsed to research like you have to. I am actually PUT OFF art, that's official! I hate looking at art books when I get back from college because it just reminds me of the ness I have to go through. We have the yest briefs to do, like the one now is some group work stuff that calls itself 'Active Learning Set'. (or sumthin')

The only minor decent thing is Illustration, which is alright but even that has it's moments - MAN I"M RANTING ON KNOW so I'll stop :badass:

AAAGggggggggggggggggh! IIIIIII WAAAANT HALF-LIFE!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAaaaagh! :x

Posted 20 years ago2004-05-13 09:15:12 UTC Post #26774
An Art College without actually making art? Man, you shouldn't even have gotten into that if you knew it beforehand! What you're forced to do is the Art of Boredom! ;)

A bad thing to hear how talents can be wasted in a professional matter.
  • Well, anyway, you've mapped to much when you put a compile log of your life on your thumbstone.

I like to draw a lot, but I keep it as a hobby while I want to study Informatica. Seems like a good decision when I hear your story!

BTW, you have some art on-line?
Posted 20 years ago2004-05-13 14:19:16 UTC Post #26798
I think it's Information Technologies (not sure, the word 'informatica' is also used here, in Bulgaria...). I'm also going to study that in high school. I've got three years to think of it...

-When you can map using any program, including Paint and Notepad.
-When you actually hear the HEV suit in your head going "Blood oxygen levels are dropping" after a long swim
-When you think that any person is 6 feet tall and 32 inches across
-When you kill scientists as a stress relief method
-When you fantacise about Gina and/or assasins (if you do, that's just SAD)
-When your whole house is perfectly recreated in Hammer
-When your firend's house is perfectly recreated in Hammer
-When your brother actually learns how to map without looking at any tutorials, just you working
-When your .../Half-Life/Valve/Maps folder is larger than 1 GB (1263MB for me  )
-When you don't know the name of most of those maps or under what circumstances they were made
-When you map under substance influence
-When it actually makes sense next morning

That should be enough for now. But I will be back.
Posted 20 years ago2004-05-13 14:54:10 UTC Post #26804
1263MB...dude, thats awesome, where did you get THAT much maps from... (standart map is about 0.5 MB up to 2MB with the port files) So you must be having about 400-600 maps...

Lets put this back on topic.

-When you play through the orignal HL game and you memorise verything that happens.
-When you realize that Lamda is a roman(latin) number also used for wavelength in science.
-When you try and map for anouther program but dont understand it because HL has warped you mind.
-When someone mentions a entity mapping immedatly comes to mind.
-You have 3 Valve folders inside your halflife folder plus a backup in Mydocuments.

When you do the study I do (only 2 weeks left!), you'll always remember that. Plus, you know what a half-life is and how that affects the radioactivity of a material...
