O/ good people of TWHL.
Hope you had a good Christmas and that everyone is looking forward to a happy and healthy New Year.

And yes, to those that left comments last year, I do remember you all. Some with fondness and others with omfg is that guy for real :)

For some bizarre reason people still send me emails about mapping which is great if I log in, not so great if I done..

Way back when I first got involved with Atom and TWHL the burning question was will this site support modding and mapping for years to come or will it be like so many others that sprung up and disappeared.

It is a testament to the professionalism and tenacity of those that followed Atoms lead that this site still exists and provides an archival base for the basic (and sometimes the downright impossible)concepts of Mod and Map making using the Half-Life engine.

So, pat yourselves on the back.

It make me proud to log in and see a thriving community...

Till next year,
All the very best.

Merry Christmas everyone from my new computer, which unlike my old one works perfectly. Hooray!

I'm rather cold at the moment, and due to the cold we have no water or heating.
Lovely.

I have had PHP listed in my CV ever since I had one. However, I don't remember typing a single line of PHP until today, when I had to script a page for my "second job" (I don't have a first one, got fired a year ago).

Today I found out I didn't know shizzle about PHP. But it turned out to be pretty easy so after a couple of minutes I had the page set up and working. Not pretty, just functional. I'll take care of the looks after it does everything I want it to do.

So today I found out I was ahead of myself. I suppose I knew I'd find it easy to learn if I ever needed it. I'm glad to know I wasn't wrong :D

I went to a video game store before looking for a copy of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The sales assistant was clearly an idiot, and didn't know what the game was. He wanted me to describe it to him. I told him it's about a black guy driving around crashing cars, rooting whores and evading police. The dumb cunt gave me Tiger Woods Pro Golf Tour.

So a new mod for Source came out called Flesh which is horror and stuff. I liked it and I haven't finished it yet but so far it took me 2 and a half hours to get the the third map and I believe there are 5.

Sometimes you forget it's actually Source cause they've done some nice changes to the engine using Hammer entities mostly such as the 3rd person camera.

It's a mix of Silent Hill and Siren and I think you should all give it a go:

I'm currently creating a L4D map of my workplace! XD

I'll post screenshots fairly soon as I hope to have more fun killing zombies there than working there.

There is nothing Valve can do right now (with the exceptions of canceling episode 3 and/or deleting my steam account) that would piss me off.
First they have a free TF2 weekend.
This causes one of my friends to invite me to his place to play TF2 with and against him.
We hook up my computer to his home network, and I can update steam and download TF2. In the process, I also download HL2, Lost coast, The SDK, and Steam HL.

Aside from a few problems with the more advanced shaders in HL2, and TF2 sometimes going black except for the HUD, the source games work perfectly.
Fast forward to now- I'm home, and I'm almost out of the mines in my HL2 save. :D Ravenholm is less scary than I thought it would be.
TL:DR;
Free TF2 weekend causes JeffMOD to go to a friends' place, Now he has HL2 on his computer and in a playable state.
Expect a basic source map within the next month or two.

Last night, we ordered a Pizza from Pizzahut. A single large Pepperoni Pizza. When it finally arrived, my aunt chose to pay with Visa, but it was strangely declined. She switched to debit, paid for the pizza, and the delivery guy left.

Why didn't the visa work? Turns out the man charged the visa for $22,356.61
Yes, you are correctly reading this. No wonder the card was turned down!

IT SNOWS! YES YES YES YES YES!
I just woke up and watched outside the window. Everything is white, covered with snow. The snow is maybe like 20 cm already. It still snows.
This means only one thing: formula1 with plastic bags down the hills. It's really hardcore when you have the "maximum" speed and you just see the snow flying above you.

HALF LIFE CLIFF NOTES
by 2muchvideogames

BLACK MESA INBOUND
Gordon rides the Black Mesa tram to work.

ANOMALOUS MATERIALS
Gordon arrives at Sector C where he shlunks the carrier into the beam causing a disaster of epic proportions.

UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES
Gordon breaks his way out of Sector C and somehow finds an elevator in the sewers.

OFFICE COMPLEX
Gordon navigates an office complex along with the help of scientists and security guards (on second thought, only the guards helped much.)

"WE'VE GOT HOSTILES"
Demonstrating a serious oversight of human rights, the US government sends in troops to neutralise all life including Gordon, who by now is toting a shotgun.

BLAST PIT
Gordon must somehow get past three long, sharp, deadly, noisy, and ugly green tentacles.

POWER UP
Gordon must power up a train while evading a big blue thingy...

ON A RAIL
A more violent train ride than the first chapter.

APPREHENSION
Gordon is apprehended by soldiers after surviving an assassination attempt on his life.

RESIDUE PROCESSING
Gordon tries to avoid being processed by undiscriminating machines.

QUESTIONABLE ETHICS
Gordon questions the ethics of putting secrecy and national security above individual human rights.

SURFACE TENSION
Gordon wonders why this chapter is called surface tension. And then he looks up and sees da choppers.

"FORGET ABOUT FREEMAN!"
Gordon rejoices since it is revealed that the soldiers are retreating from Black Mesa.

LAMBDA CORE
Some lazy scientists order Gordon to power up some pumps.
Then, Gordon is sent into another world. How fun.

XEN
Gordon jumps from platform to platform reminiscient of a plumber wearing red shirt and overalls.

GONARCH'S LAIR
Gordon's path is blocked by a walking testis. (Seriously that's what Valve programmers intended it to be)

INTERLOPER
Gordon goes gunnin' and runnin' across the factories of Xen like some action film hero.

NIHILANTH
Gordon attempts to hold peace talks with the supreme ruler of Xen, but it all breaks down eventually...

ENDGAME
Gordon declines his offer of employment and is left stranded on Xen, where he makes peace with the remaining aliens. With the death of the autocratic, warmongering ruler, Nihilanth, the remaining Xen population sets up a provisional government that holds democratic elections. Gordon eventually settles down and marries a vortigaunt and lives happily ever after. THE END
