Bought a new PC few days ago. Heck, it was about damn time i did that.
The old machine was slowly falling apart. It was giving me a headache, especially when i needed some work done, and it just refused to work.
Now i'm able to play orange box games, but since i got back to my dorm, i can't play them online. (Ports are blocked)
Although i was able to play TF2 for a few hours, just before going to sleep and moving here. (Sadly Dauby's server was down)

Here are the specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3,16 Ghz
4 GB DDRII 800
500 GB HDD
Gigabyte 9600GT 512 MB

Old specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+ (1,4Ghz)
512 MB RAM (DDR 400)
160 GB HDD
GeForce FX 5200 (At first, but it died like half a year ago, so i used a GeForce 2 MX 400 until now)

My new webcam finally arrived, it was supposed to come on Friday but it's only just arrived, I opened the door to the mail guy and there were two packages. Strange.

Turns out they sent me two of them, and I only paid for one. <3 Ebuyer.

Anywho, the camera is awesome! it can take some pretty good quality shots.

http://www.maxpaynethemovie.com/US/index.html

The nightmares with the Valkyrs look like something you would see in Doom 3, and Jim Bravura is played by Ludacris (wtf.)...but I really hope they don't fuck this one entirely up. It seems to follow the storyline of the game much more, than any other video game adaptation to date, and I'll definatly go see it.

Please Fox, make it worth all that money.

Looks like I have to stop beings such a pirate. :( As well, I'm getting to a point where things are now going to involve money, and yes, its illegal in the first place, but I don't want to be the guy who gets his reputation ruined, especially in the competition of the real world.

Geo (president dude of the GDC) is going to give the speech at the next meeting saying that if you can't take the heat, gtfo of the kitchen, and if they quit, all submitted work is forfeit, and if the quitters show the work they did as being a part of the club, he will hunt you. He was very serious, and surely the right guy for the position too. :D He privately asked me to download Blender and Gimp and make something to boost the morale of those still standing after he verablly castrates everyone. He knows I could do it, and if anyone needs it, I can demo the stuff to the group.

This doesn't stop me from pirating stuff for personal use. As long as I don't use it to make any money, or use it professionally for that matter, I think I should be fine. From my understanding of Gimp, it has the basics necessary for texture painting. I've grown past a lot of the Photoshop specific junk anyway and I'm applying more skill/concept based approaches, which is applicable to any program with layers and tablet input.

I learned a lot today. If you've read this far haven't thought tl;dr I got something for ya.

I also found the glory that is Google Sketchup. Thats Ketchup is an S. It. Is. Amazing. It make environment previs and layout retardly simple, and its 3D. But not like the kind of Maya or Max 3D, this is so simple I've deamed it to be the 3D MSPaint. And its completely FREE! I would recommend using it for planning maps carefully and showcasing the work in the forums for feedback long before you start mapping. I may write a short tutorial for this in the future if it gets picked up. There is a wealth of online download free objects and resources, as well as it can export image files in DWG and other vector types. It can render in perspective or in a orthographic view like side, top, and front. The top is perfect for seeing the exact layout of the map. I see it as a tool that can greatly help even an innexperienced mapper. Its nearly easier than MSPaint to use. If you can click and draw shapes, you'll do fine.

I have some things I have to do this weekend. I was going to touch up on 6D, but the attention on that will likely be saved until after this semester is done for me. I have a lot on my to-do list and I know I'm spread a bit thin at the moment. Bare with me, I haven't forgot about 6D, and I've set some time aside for it for the upcoming week, just not this weekend. Sad, we've made it so far and its getting pushed down.

I still like to count the total medals.
China got 51 gold medals.
USA got 36 gold medals.
USA got the most medal.

Also, Im Malaysian. Malaysia won ONLY 1 siver medal.
We are proud of Chong Wei Lee. He won the silver medal.

PS: I think China is GODLIKE!

I've just watched Nirvana, an italian cyberpunk movie, released in 1997. Although it's fairly low-budget, and stars Cristopher Lambert - who I don't really like, and his performance pretty much sucked as well - the camerawork and the whole atmosphere is brilliant, the storyline is superb (almost as complex as The Matrix), and it managed to get me thinking about how we choose to solve our problems and how we deal with death or the death of our beloved ones.

Okay, now without going any more mental, this movie can kick the ass of any recent shiny CG-enhanced Hollywood sci-fi/cyberpunk bullshit, so if you can, and if you like this genre, check it out.

I'm happy I spent that approximately 2 bucks on it.

Argh, not this again. :/

I turned on my pc today and heard a weird noise coming out of the case. It was not my CPU fan, not my powersupply fan but my videocard fan! Why do i always get faulty videocard fans!? Its not the first time that my videocard fan starts to show signs of failure. Its still working though, but for how long? Who knows... Anyway, i took out the videocard and used a air compressor to blow out all the dust. I did the same with the rest of the system.

Then i put the card back into its AGP slot, connected all the wires, and turned the pc on. Still the same sound. So i took a pencil and started to poke the fan, hoping that the sound will stop. And it did.

The fan is connected to the card via a 2-pin socket, so my guess is that the fan could easily be replaced by a new one, without having to replace the entire card, cuz the card itself is still working as it should be.
Ill just wait and see what happens...

Balls.

In other news, i have a really cool Brotherhood of Nod logo decal on my window. People walking by outside can see that i fight for Nod.

Edit: 10000 logins. Neat! No message though. :/

Well I'm back from Leeds, longest 3 days of my life.

We ended up camping on a hill because there was no space anywhere else, so that made sleeping a problem, and the general background noise was very loud.

But apart from that, the bands were excellent, Tenacious D, Metallica and Goldfinger put on the best shows by far! (Jack and Kyle entering the stage wearing a wizard and dinosaur suit was an epic win)

And for all the people who were saying stuff in the shoutbox about Slipknot, when I was walking through Leeds I heard countless people all saying that they were dissapointed about Slipknot pulling out, and I'm sure if you had the chance to see Slipknot who would play about 5 minutes away from you, you would, just to say you've seen them.

Mindless Self Indulgence played instead of them, they were terrible, so they had mud and bottles thrown at them. (Bassist was hot though)

Video!

All done through the material system and useable with non-solid displacements, should be very versatile and cheap to render!

I have a bit of a plan where I can use this in one of the maps I'm developing alongside ctf_volcano. More news on that later. ;>
