I miss those fun wacky mods from HL1 in the source modding community. Nowadays the standards to create a mod are set too high. The 'fun' aspect of modding seems gone in source; so many source mods die - simply because they want to release their mod like it's a commercial game. This sorta resulted in gamers aspecting this aswell. Luckyly i'm always searching for new mods and came across a new mod from one of my fav. developers Brendon Chung;

Yes, fileplanet.. I know I know, but it's worth it. It's a really small (done in ~10 min) and random mod, but totally awesome anyway. You have to play it.

You've hit the nail on the head Freshed, people are aiming for the highest possible results, although most gamers play a mod only if it looks top-notch, which is a shame.

I still play a lot of 'rough' Source mods, mostly because I crave SP mods every day. :P

I can have fun with them most of the time, but I do wish people would put more effort into them, there's no reason why they shouldn't.

Played it. Fairly poor design-wise, though the final Eli scene made up for everything. Pure fucking win. ^^

Yeh, it isn't a beauty; but damn sure is fun to play. I loved all scenes.

Well, I hated it. :P

The first map is ok, but after the interview it all falls apart. 5 solid minutes of nonsense, glitchy script work, and an end scene that felt like a 10 year old came up with.

"Let's take Pulp Fiction... and add EYE LASERS!"

..ok.

decent NPC scripting, but everything else is dire.

I miss the old TFC custom servers. Those were fun.

Anyone remember hideandseek_b3 or minigolf?

minigolf is still being played on TFC servers.
I love TFC.

Neo TF for the win!!

Neo TF was fun, but horrifically unbalanced.

The only balance there was the balance caused by both teams having the same unbalanced stuff, hehe.

Those special sentry guns the engineers could make with a scouts touch were evil.

I loved making all those special sentry's. I was making em all the time, and everywhere!

EDIT: Anyone remember Hunted? When i was playing that map daily there were 3 dedicated servers running it 24/7. No bots. Just now there's one server, and i doubt dedicated...

TFC was awesome. Even in 2007 I played at the jolt.co.uk fun servers from time to time, simple concepts like hide and seek, climbing and whatnot - all as a big fat civilian. That sure was epic.

Yeah, just spend 20 minutes in dustbowl madness racking up kills as an engi!
