UPDATE: Turns out, the whole motor is in fact, cashed. I will not be driving for quite a while. =X

So today is the most god-awful day of my life. I'm not sure what is wrong with it yet, but my supercharger has a serious problem. Since the supercharger is stock, the vehicle won't work without it. Now it may just need a $50 part, but it may need to be replaced, which none of us have the money to do. Worst case scenario it will have cashed my motor along with it and I'll be in the thousands rather than the hundreds.

7 days of school left, finals the last two days, and I now have no transportation. All my friends live on the other end of town and most probably won't be willing to take me there, much less back home. Deep sigh. =/

If your friends are people that won't give you a ride to their place, then they are asshats and shouldn't be your friends.

Unless they're on the other end of town.

i did get a ride today. and they ALL live on the other end of town. its far enough. and she did too, but she's a good person so yeah. =P

and yeah, many people will just say "slap a belt on the engine and drive w/o a supercharger", yeah this car doesn't work that way. its all in the computer and i'd spend more to do that than to put a new SC on it.

Catch a bus?

If they came to the area. Once again, other end of town, I'm technically SUPPOSED to be going to the school over here. But I'm not.

At least I only have 6 days of torture left until we're out. Terrible timing on my car's part anyhow. sigh

Wow, the bus too? What a sucky situation, but at least it's temporary. ;>

Yeah. 6 days still hurts for me though.
Not to mention, most, if not all, summer too. Once it's fixed the mechanical nightmare is gone. If it ever gets fixed...

What happened to it, specifically? Bottom end problems? Rarely is a motor completely trashed, it would have to catch on fire or be dropped two stories or something along those lines. Meh, but catastrophic failure seems typical of any forced induction engine eventually, even stock ones.

At least parts are easy to come by for those engines. You have no idea how hard it is to secure engine parts for my car, used or new. It's like the replacement and performance aftermarket completely ignored it in favor of Civics or something.

Yeah 3800 motors are common. But still $1000 to get one in my car.
It didn't sound like bottom end noise, it was more like a rattling noise, and it was just horrid. Car stalled out and died a few times, specifically while in reverse, which kind of made me think tranny, which would be worse, considering putting one in any car is typically a $2000 deal. But my dad looked at it and told me it was the motor, and that is was smoked.

One observation my dad my was the 3800 motor and the 3800 SC motors were different to an extent, and you couldn't supercharge the normal 3.8 due to having a weaker bottom end and such, and we replaced the motor once before, so we're wondering if the supercharger blew the motor...

When, if, we have the money ever, we'll fix it and sell it. I'm done with it, he's done with it, simple as that.

TL;DR: Motor is trashed, car is getting sold when possible, and i wont be driving for awhile.

Well obviously the compression would be completely different between N/A and supercharged engines, so that wouldn't work at all. You've probably got forged internals too.

I got an awful rattling noise when my lifter retainer broke. It's a pretty unusual thing to happen though.

But that sucks, I really like those cars.

What a cycle of terror. But this may be good new. We talked to a mechanic we frequently work with for our lot cars, and he said that by the sound of it, the problem may lie in a broken flywheel. 3-400$ fix. More than a supercharger, less than half a new motor.
