Op4 is probably the best SP thing you can get for 5 euros. Other than that and BS, I don't know what else you COULD get.

I wouldn't advise getting Blue Shift. It's not fun.

5 Euros is a ridiculous budget.

I spend more than that on my Sub lunch

"I wouldn't advise getting Blue Shift. It's not fun." It can't be any worse than the second half of Azure Sheep. ...Can it?
Commented 14 years ago2009-08-23 14:01:33 UTC Comment #56584
Azure Sheep is what Blue Shift should have been, even with the second half. Blue Shift introduced no new enemies, weapons, or characters aside from one scientist. You also don't get to use any of the alien or experimental weapons in BS. And it's repetitive, with most of the game being find-a-key-for-this-door puzzles.

With such a budget, I'd suggest just buying an indie game. Maybe Audiosurf.

Yeah, Blue shift...once played you will never touch it again. You can't even really map for it. Opposing Force is much more fun

"5 Euros is a ridiculous budget.

Ha, Ha, Ha...
Sorry sir I don't have a salary. And Audiosurf is 10 Euros.
I think I'm gonna wait for something like "50% off for all steam games !" or something like that, like the last 66% off for all hl games was :D :D :D .

WC, I beg to differ on the Blue Shift issue. I hate it when mods set in BM give you a tau cannon or gluon gun. They're supposed to be prototypes, not mass produced weapons. And while Blue shift didn't really add much, I think the storyline did have potential, if it was wasted. The lack of new enemies is probably because gearbox used Race X without consulting valve about it, so they didn't want to throw their asses in the fire when they were making BS.
Keep in mind Asheep was a semi-poorly mapped mod with most of the good areas decompiled from valve and gearbox maps, and everything canon disregarded. I think gearbox could have done better with blue shift, but it did have potential.

All right, I don't care if it's not practical in the game's universe for barney to run around with the gluon gun or something. I care that it was fun to tear enemies apart with it in HL, and it would have been fun in BS. And without such weapons, or even new replacements to compensate, all the developer does is cut content that was in the original game. Why would I want to play a short game with little to no plot development when there even less content than the game it's based on?

It had potential, and so did a lot of other crappy games. But it went nowhere, so I'm not going to recommend it to anyone on the basis that it could have been fun.

Good point.
Anyway, does anyone know of any cheap games for cstriker?
Commented 14 years ago2009-08-23 16:12:08 UTC Comment #56591
Yes, Opposing Force obviously. Best Goldsource game/mod other than Half-Life.

And Azure Sheep's mapping SUCKS. What a load of noob-crap that mod was. It's nowhere close to a retail product of any sort.
Commented 14 years ago2009-08-23 16:22:10 UTC Comment #56606
Yeah. Plus most of the maps were decompiled.
Some parts were OK, but most of the areas were just blocks.

Cheap, anyway.

If you honestly only have five dollars left, I don't know why you would be looking to spend it so fast.

Get Opposing Force! :D

Thats what I map for, and I find it to be the most fun mod of half-life, the new dimension of grunts being on your side is awesome!
Commented 14 years ago2009-08-24 08:00:56 UTC Comment #56608
"the new dimension of grunts being on your side is awesome!" Hence my...er... Never mind, I didn't say anything about my planned next mod...

I like how you fly past the cliff from HL in the intro.
Commented 14 years ago2009-08-24 18:19:48 UTC Comment #56593
That's some high standards there if you think the mapping is bland.

Maybe I got used too much to games like hl2, stalker, unreal 3 ....

Compare mapping in OP4 to that of Half-Life and Gearbox wipe the floor with Valve. Blue shift even more so. Yes it wasn't so great, but damn were the maps attractive.

The best thing about blue-shift was that it came with the HD pack.
